League One side Wigan Athletic have signed Manchester United youngster Joe Hugill on a season-long loan.
The striker, who scored against Rangers in the pre-season friendly on July 20, 2024, pulled out of the Manchester United pre-season tour to sign a deal with Wigan.
Upon completing the move to Wigan Athletic, Joe Hugill made an excellent statement, revealing how delightful he is ahead of the 2024–25 League One campaign.
He said, “I am very delighted to be here. It’s been a long time coming, but I am over the moon to get it done, and I can’t wait to get started.”
“To get the number nine shirt is a massive honour, and I will wear it with pride. Hopefully, I can show what I can do with it.”
The 20-year-old striker spent the second half of the 2023-24 season on loan at League One side Burton Albion. He made 17 appearances for the club.
Erik Ten Hag and his players flew to the United States of America for the pre-season tour, and they are looking forward to playing against Liverpool, Real Betis, and Arsenal in the coming days.
A large number of first-team players like Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Victor Lindelof are already training with the team. They are looking forward to playing against Arsenal on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay, Rasmus Hojlund, and Christian Eriksen have also returned to training.
After the Arsenal match on Sunday, July 28, Manchester United will proceed to play against Real Betis on August 1, 2024, at 3:00 a.m.
Furthermore, Manchester United will play against their arch-rival Liverpool on August 4, 2024, at 12:30 am before traveling back to England to play in the Community Shield against Manchester City.
