While a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho stalls, Manchester United have made their first move of the transfer window as Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek looks set for an Old Trafford move.

According to Fabrizio Romano and Mike Verweij, Donny van de Beek reportedly agreed to personal terms of a five-year deal with Manchester United in the late hours of Sunday, August 30, and is scheduled to complete a medical ahead of the move in the coming days.

Manchester United’s €39m (+€5m in add-ons) offer to Ajax for the Netherlands international was reportedly accepted and the move would be completed shortly, as the 23-year-old is on international duty with the Netherlands.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a huge admirer of the 23-year-old and had scouted him on several occasions after his outstanding performances for Ajax in the 2019 Champions League campaign.

The 23-year-old will fly to the UK after Netherland’s Nations League games against Poland and Italy on the 4th and 7th of September complete his medicals.

The Dutchman has shown he is capable of doing it on the biggest stages as he guided Ajax golden boys to victory against Real Madrid in 2019 to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Former Manchester United shot-stopper and now Ajax chief executive, Edwin van der Sar, earlier confirmed that midfielder would be sold if the right fee was presented and now it appears he has played the super-agent role for his former employers.

Van de Beek’s versatility in midfield, vision, and eye for goal has seen him being linked with a move to Spanish champions Real Madrid.

Last season, he had a direct hand in 17 goals for the Amsterdam club, as he scored 10 goals while setting up seven assists in all competitions.
