The Manchester United captain still has two years remaining in his contract but he is set to leave the club this summer.

Harry Maguire has endured a torrid stint at Old Trafford since Erik Ten Hag became the club’s manager.

The England center-back started Erik Ten Hag’s first two Premier League games against Brighton and Brentford which ended in a humiliating defeats.

Erik ten Hag lost his first home game against Brighton at Old Trafford before another grinding defeat at Gtech Community Stadium to Thomas Frank’s Brentford.

Harry Maguire was a casualty of Erik Ten Hag’s squad reshuffle with Lisandro Martinez coming in at center-back role for the club, pairing with Raphael Varane.

The former Leicester City defender has dropped down the pecking order among Ten Hag’s defensive options with his England national team pal Luke Shaw sometimes deployed on the center-back role despite being a natural left-back.

This season, Harry Maguire has made only 16 Premier League appearances for Manchester United, mostly coming in from the bench.

Of all 61 Manchester United games this season, Harry Maguire has started only 17. He joined the club in 2019 from Leicester City for £80million, signing a six-year contract which is set to expire in 2025.

Despite the two years left in his contract, Manchester United are reportedly ready to fork out £10million for his payoff this summer.

Maguire earns £190,000 weekly at Manchester United. The projections are he will earn less than the amount in his new club if he leaves this summer, hence Manchester United have to pay the £10million to offset his wage bills.

Harry Maguire has struggled for minutes under Erik Ten Hag

Gareth Southgate sparked reactions when he included Harry Maguire in England 2022 World Cup squad despite his lack of game time at Manchester United.

However, the 30-year-old shoved his struggles at Old Trafford to put up an impressive performance in Qatar. He made Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euros 2024 qualifiers first round of matches against Italy and Ukraine. Again, he has been included in the squad for the second round of matches against North Macedonia and Malta in June.

Despite a bouyant outing with the Three Lions in 2022 World Cup and Euros 2024 qualifiers, Harry Maguire is yet to earn the trust of Erik Ten Hag.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag is planning a move for Napoli’s Kim Min-jae to beef up Manchester United defense next summer hence the England international is not likely to see an end to his recent misfortunes at the club.

Sources close to the club have revealed the FA Cup Final against City rivals, Manchester City, at Wembley on Saturday might be Maguire’s last game for the club.
