Manchester United are reportedly ready to make a U-turn on their decision to sell out Mason Greenwood this summer if some conditions are not met.

Greenwood, 25, is due back to Old Trafford after his short-term loan spell with Getafe expired. We reported earlier the English winger had lifted the lid on his future with a telling farewell message to Getafe.

Futballnews understands Getafe had worked around the clock to retain the deadly right-winger on another loan but have suffered setbacks.

Getafe president Angel Torres confirmed the Azulones are interested in keeping Greenwood but his parent club United have refused to budge in their decision for a permanent exit solution for the player this summer.

The Sun revealed United have slammed a £40m price tag on Greenwood and are ready to sell out the youngster to the highest bidder.

However, according to The Athletic, Manchester United are ready for a shock turn on Mason Greenwood’s exit if they cannot broker a good deal for the player.

The report adds United hierarchy won’t part ways with Greenwood on a platter and will not entertain offers below the set benchmarks.

They are reportedly ready to have the Academy graduate return to training with the club but it is yet unclear whether he will be allowed back into United’s first-team.

From the foregoing, Greenwood’s transfer saga is likely to drag Man United transfer chiefs and planners to the drawing board. Greenwood has a one-year contract left on his United deal. Should the club fail to part ways with the player this summer, they could risk losing him on a free transfer after next season.

If no suitor meets their £40m valuation of the player, they may likely be forced to sell below the cut price or trigger the extension clause on his contract to buy time for the right offer next summer.

Meanwhile, it is understood Greenwood is already preparing for life away from Old Trafford after his Getafe loan spell. The Sun reported he had put up his £2million Cheshire home for sale.
