Manchester United have agreed on personal terms to sign PSG and Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte from the Ligue 1 outfit.
In a report shared by Fabrizio Romano, the Old Trafford outfit has settled with Ugarte on contract terms, covering the wage and duration of the contract, and are now in negotiations with PSG to complete a move for the player.
Ugarte’s deal has become a priority for Manchester United with Casemiro linked to a possible summer exit from the club this summer. Despite lacking Champions League football next season, Manuel Ugarte gave the nod for the move as he sets out for a new challenge away from Ligue 1.
His imminent exit has also been linked to PSG’s interest in signing prolific Portuguese young midfielder, Joao Neves, from Benfica this summer. While details of United’s agreement with the player have yet to be disclosed, some outlets claim the 23-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract with the club.
Ugarte played as a defensive midfielder for PSG and Uruguay national team. He is expected to replace Casemiro after the Brazilian struggled for form last season. Sofyan Amrabat, who could also fit into the role, is facing an uncertain future at the club as well.
The Morocco international is interested in continuing his career at Manchester United but the club has yet to decide on his loan deal. Ugarte has now emerged as a concrete option for United, with the club hoping to reach an agreement with PSG for the player. According to French outlets, PSG want £50m for the Uruguay international.
Manchester United sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna
Ugarte will be Manchester United’s third signing this summer. The club secured their first signing, bringing in Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for £36.5million.
The Bayern Munich academy graduate emerged on the club’s radar following his impressive 2023-24 campaign with Bologna. He scored 11 times in 34 Serie A appearances to catapult the club into Champions League position in the Serie A table.
He has penned down a five-year contract with Manchester United till 2029. Futballnews understands the Dutch forward will be used more as a backup striker for Ramsus Hojlund, who is expected to lead Man United’s attack next season.
Manchester United sign Leny Yoro from Lille
18-year-old former Lille defender, Leny Yoro, is United’s newest addition to the team. United beat the competition from Real Madrid to sign the highly-rated young French defender.
As Joshua Zirkzee, Yoro has signed a five-year contract with Manchester United till 2029 on a £56.4million transfer fee.
Playing as a center-back, Yoro is expected to fill the gap left by Raphael Varane, who has left the club on a free transfer to join Serie A outfit, Como.
Yoro made 32 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille last season, scoring two goals. Towards the end of last campaign, Erik ten Hag made do with Willy Kambwala, who has now left the club to Sevilla on a permanent transfer, as United’s center-back due to the grinding injury crisis in the club’s defence. Hence, Yoro is expected to quickly take up a key role in Erik ten Hag’s defence options for the next campaign.
