Manchester United have secured their second big signing this summer as they have finally agreed terms with Atalanta to sign Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund, 20, who plays as a top striker for Atalanta, has been a top target for Erik Ten Hag after the club backed off from the race to sign Harry Kane.

Manchester United’s move for the Danish young striker received a big boost after the youngster agreed personal terms with the club before negotiations with Atalanta even began.

United would have faced a tight bidding war with PSG for Hojlund but sources close to the forward revealed he wanted Manchester United move.

The former FC Copenhagen striker reportedly told his agent to pay attention to offers coming from Manchester United amid PSG interest as he wanted the dream move to Old Trafford.

Atalanta were ready to sell Rasmus Hojlund but at the right offer. The Serie A side slammed a €75m price tag on the Danish striker. Manchester United made an initial player-plus-cash offer for Hojlund but were turned down by Atalanta.

Mason Greenwood was also linked to a loan move to the club as a subtle arrangement for a smooth bargain for Hojlund but it was understood Atalanta were not interested in a swap deal for the player as they wanted an all-cash offer.

Manchester United’s first offer for Hojlund crossed €60m threshold but Atalanta still lingered on the fence.

While they did not reject the bid officially, negotiations were on between the two clubs after the offer. Meanwhile, PSG also tabled their first official bid for the player to the tune of €50m, a lesser offer which still leaves United on pole position to sign the player.

In the final hours of the negotiations between both clubs, it was understood PSG will lose out on the race as talks between Manchester United and Rasmus Hojlund entered advanced stages.

Rasmus Hojlund was removed from Atalanta’s squad for a preseason friendly against Bournemouth as the club wanted to avoid risks since they were closing in on a deal with Manchester United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the two parties have finally agreed terms for Rasmus Hojlund. Details of the agreement shows Manchester United will pay over €75m for Holjund with €5m add-ons.

The Danish striker has agreed a five-year contract with the club till 2028 with a one-year renewal clause.

Rasmus Hojlund will be expected to complete his medical in the coming days before announcement by the club.

He is the second big-name player joining Manchester United this summer after Mason Mount joined from Chelsea. He is also Erik Ten Hag’s first forward signing on a permanent deal.

The Dutch tactician had reiterated the need for a frontline attacker since joining the club. He signed Wout Weghorst on loan last summer to fill the void temporarily and have parted ways with the Dutch striker this summer.

Rasmus Hojlund will pilot United’s attack in the upcoming 2023/24 season. He has been likened to deadly Norwegian and Manchester City forward, Erling Haaland with his pace, precision, positioning, and goal-scoring skills.

Holjund has 9 goals in 23 Serie A appearances for Atalanta and 6 goals in 6 appearances for Denmark national team.
