Manchester United are parceling another tempting €100m offer for Ajax and Brazilian star Antony after the club rejected a whooping €80m offer.
As this summer transfer window winds down, more breathtaking deals are expected to be completed as clubs ramp up attempts to restructure their team to have a better 2022-2023 football season. Manchester United are buckling up to pull the strings and ignite the triggers to land major deals before the transfer window closes.
According to a top Spanish Football Journalist, Santi Aouna, Manchester United are warming up to table another tempting €100m offer for Ajax’s Antony.
Antony has been another top target for Erik Ten Hag since he arrived at Manchester United as manager. The Dutchman primed three top targets from Ajax -Lisandro Martinez, Frenkie de Jong, and Antony.
The club has signed Lisandro Martinez; a Frenkie de Jong deal seems unlikely, with the Dutchman insisting on staying at FC Barcelona; Antony’s deal is now at the crossroads with many intricacies and bottlenecks clogging around it.
Erik Ten Hag has been keen on bringing Antony to Old Trafford. Manchester United made an opening bid of £51m while Ajax held out for £68m. Erik Ten has not backed off as he believes in the incredible talents and abilities of the Brazilian youngster.
Before signing Casemiro, Erik Ten Hag spearheaded another bid for the youngster, estimated at €80m. Ajax wasted no time. They swiftly rejected the bid for the second time. Erik Ten Hag is bracing up for another €100m third offer considered by pundits as a very tempting offer for the Eredivisie side. Note that Ajax arrived at the Eredivise side from Sao Paulo in a deal worth £14m in 2020.
Ajax Kicks As Man United Persists
Ajax have kicked against Antony’s transfer after the club sold Sebastian Haller to Borussia Dortmund. Despite placing a previous £68m price tag on Antony, they have reversed their decision and are not keen on letting the 22-year-old leave.
Manchester United are still hoping to land a deal with the club to sign Antony. Despite two rejected bids, they are planning on a game-changing offer that may prompt the Eredivise giants to have a rethink. They have earmarked €100m for the deal.
Antony Pushes For Exit After Ajax Rejected Second Bid
Antony, on the other hand, is currently pushing for a move to Manchester United. The player has refused to join Ajax in training as they prepare to take on Sparta Rotterdam in their next Eredivisie fixture.
Antony reportedly said he was not mentally fit to join the training. Ajax manager Alfred Schreuder now has a big dilemma ahead of him, whether to include the Brazilian in the team lineup against Sparta Rotterdam or to leave him out.
Antony’s Relationship With Erik Ten Hag
Antony’s relationship with his former manager has come to the spotlight, given his recent attempt to push for a move to Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old holds his former manager in high regard and has reportedly sought a reunion with him at Old Trafford. Antony attributed his success and rise to stardom to Erik Ten Hag.
Erik Ten Hag’s fire baptism at Man United’s two opening matches has been an issue of significant concern to him. According to Antony, he “awaits to clap for Ten Hag after he gets his first three points at Manchester United.” He also “believes in Erik Ten Hag’s abilities despite his poor start.”
Manchester United are preparing a massive third offer worth €100m to sign Antony from Ajax. It is believed that Antony’s recent reaction, his relationship with Ten Hag, and the size of the offer will possibly turn the tides in Man United’s favour.
