Patrice Evra has blasted Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes for his disciplinary issues.

Evra pointed out that the Portugal international lacks discipline in the wake of Manchester United’s 2-1 loss in the Premier League to West Ham United on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

Patrice Evra’s Comments On Bruno Fernandes

Speaking with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel “Rio Ferdinand Presents,” Evra shared that he loves Bruno Fernandes, and he noted how seamlessly the midfielder adapted to the Premier League.

Patrice Evra said: “Listen, I love Bruno [Fernandes]. When he arrived, I was like, ‘what a player!’. The way he adapted [to the Premier League] and everything [was really good].

However, the 43-year-old expressed that Bruno Fernandes “has no discipline” and he is struggling to understand where the Portuguese is playing.

Evra added: “But something I have to say about Bruno and forget the armband or whatever, he has no discipline. I don’t know where Bruno is playing.”

Patrice Evra further said that he doesn’t think Bruno Fernandes is producing what Manchester United demand currently.

The former Juventus man claimed: “With all due respect to Bruno, I don’t think he’s [doing] what United need right now.”

    Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes has come under intense scrutiny in the 2024/25 season, having struggled to delineate qualities in the colors of Manchester United.

Fernandes has found it hard to display his brilliance like he has done for several seasons since joining the Old Trafford side in January 2020.

Bruno Fernandes completed a move to Manchester United on January 29, 2020, for a fee of €65 million and he has made 246 appearances for the club, scoring 79 goals and providing 71 assists in all competitions.

The Portuguese has helped Manchester United pick up 2 trophies thus far, namely; 1 Carabao Cup and 1 FA Cup title.

Bruno Fernandes has been sent off twice this season due to his disciplinary problems, with one of the red cards rescinded.

    Patrice Evra

Patrice Evra represented the Old Trafford side between 2006 and 2014, having joined the club from AS Monaco in January 2006 for a fee of €8 million.

Evra made 379 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 10 goals and providing 33 assists in all competitions.

The 43-year-old won several trophies at the Manchester-based club, including 1 UEFA Champions League, 5 Premier League titles, and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.

    Erik ten Hag Dismissed!

On Monday, October 28, 2024, Manchester United pulled the plug on Erik ten Hag, ending their ties with the Dutch tactician.

Manchester United have been poor in the 2024/25 season and Ten Hag’s inability to positively change the fortunes of the club led to his dismissal.

Following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, Bruno Fernandes took to his social media accounts to send tribute to his former boss.

He wrote “Thanks for everything boss !
I appreciate the trust and the moments we share together, I wish you all the best in the future 🙌🏻

“Even knowing the last period isn’t been great from all of us I hope you fans can keep with you the good things the manager as done for our club!”

    Manchester United

The Red Devils currently occupy the 14th position on the Premier League table, having amassed 11 points from 9 matches.

They have also wobbled in the UEFA Europa League, with Manchester United yet to claim a victory this campaign after 3 matches, sharing the spoils with FC Twente, Porto, and Fenerbahce.

It will be fascinating to see how they fare in the coming matches, as they trade tackles with Leicester City at Old Trafford on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, before battling Chelsea on Sunday, November 3, 2024.
