Manchester United legend and former goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar shared beautiful moments with his wife as he celebrates her birthday with a warm birthday message.
Van der Sar posted beautiful slides of moments they have shared together after years of marriage.
Sending love and affection, the former Manchester United goalie wrote, ”A special birthday for a very special woman. Loved every moment of all those years together.”
The Dutch then closed up the post caption with three love emojis to delineate his love and affection for his wife. He also shared a shot of the family they have raised together after 17 years of marriage.
Edwin van Der Sar
Born on 29 October 1970 in Voorhout Netherlands, Edwin van der Sar is a former professional footballer and football executive.
Van der Sar started his football career with two Dutch youth teams. He played for Foreholte from 1980 to 1985 before joining VVB Noordwijk in 1985 where he also had a five-year stint before his first senior club appearance for Ajax in 1990.
Van der Sar established his football career as one of the top Dutch goalies to be reckoned with in his 9 years spell with Ajax, making 226 appearances for the club.
He was part of Ajax’s golden generation of players who dominated Dutch football and also won the European Cup (modern-day Champions League).
In 1999, Edwin van der Sar joined Serie A giants Juventus, spending two seasons with the club before moving to English Premier League in 2001 where he played for Fulham.
He made 127 appearances for Fulham before joining Manchester United in 2005 where he played for six years before calling time on his career and returning to his homeland.
Van der Sar called time on his career in 2011 after six years with Manchester United but temporarily came back from retirement in 2016 to play for his childhood club Noordwijk before returning to retirement.
The 52-year-old has been tipped as one of the best goalkeepers and most successful Dutch players of all time. He won several domestic and European trophies with Ajax and Manchester United, including several individual awards.
In 2008-09, he set a world record for the most number of clean sheets, not conceding a goal in 1,310 minutes while at Manchester United. He made 130 appearances for the Dutch national team and won two UEFA European Championships.
After he retired from football, van der Sar took was appointed a marketing director at Ajax in 2012. He is currently the CEO of Ajax and took up the role in 2016.

Leading a relatively low public profile, Edwin van der Sar’s wife is Annemarie van Kesteren. She is also a Dutch and had got married to the renowned former footballer in 2006.
The pair have two children together after 17 years of marriage and have been living happily together.
