Manchester United may have achieved a breakthrough in their search for a new manager, according to rumors that the club has ‘already interviewed’ Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

United allegedly met with Ten Hag on Monday to discuss the possibility of him taking over the role in the summer.

After it was confirmed that current manager Ralf Rangnick would only be in charge until the end of the season on an interim basis, United had months to prepare for a new manager to take over in the summer.

After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s terrible run of results led to his dismissal in late November, with the Red Devils in eighth place in the Premier League, the German took over.

Rangnick will stay on as a consultant once his management tenure ends, and he could have a large say in who replaces him at Old Trafford. In recent weeks, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, and Ten Hag have all been connected with the job as the Red Devils’ time runs out.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Erik ten Hag is now the frontrunner for the post after it was revealed that he had an interview on Monday.

According to the story, the 52-year-old spoke with United executives on Monday about a possible move to England. United is recommending caution in the wake of reports linking the Ajax coach with a move to Old Trafford.

According to sources, a study procedure overseen by John Murtough and Darren Fletcher was just concluded at the beginning of the month. Ajax, on the other hand, believes that their manager will go in the summer.

Ajax would not stand in Ten Hag’s way, according to the source, and have a good relationship with United thanks to their director of football, Red Devils great Edwin van der Sar. And, with a compensation price of only £4 million, a deal appears to be feasible.
