Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea, shared pictures of himself and Manchester United teammates as they make their way to Cologne, Germany, to prepare for the Europa League quarterfinal match against Danish club Fc Copenhagen.
The Red Devil will be isolating and training in Germany ahead of the fixture in other to limit exposure to outsiders. A tournament which would be a one-leg fixture due to the coronavirus. The city of Cologne, Germany, will host the Europa League’s final, which is scheduled to be played on August 21st.
David De Gea Weathering the storm
David De Gea, 29, has been under fire for some below-par performance for the club in recent matches, the most recent incident been the FA Cup semifinal fixture against Chelsea when he let a tamed shot get past him.
The Spanish goalkeeper joined United from Atletico Madrid for a then UK record for a goalkeeper reported to be worth €25 million by former manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011/12. His early days at United were mixed as he put in some fine performance and good saves but was also guilty of errors. But he got stronger in his second season and was regarded as one of the world’s best goalkeepers. Since his arrival, he has won the Europa League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup with the club.

De Dea recently made his 400th appearances for the club in the game between Southampton to become the number one foreign player with the highest number of appearances after club legend and fellow goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel. He as over 100 clean sheets for the club, but is recent form is making the club consider giving Dea Henderson who had a successful season on loan a chance at the club.
DeGea gave a sneak peek into their flight to Germany with Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Juan Mata, all wearing masks as they came together to take pictures.
Bruno Fernandes and David De Gea have not played a competitive game since the final day win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium to secure their next season’s Champions League spot by finishing third.
Right-back Diogo Dalot and Juan Mata have been on and off the pitch for the Red Devils this season with only four appearances, with Brandon Williams taking over Dalot’s position; similarly, the in-form Fernandes has taken over Juan Mata’s place with the Spaniard playing just 19 times this season in the League, the match against Copenhagen will be played on the 10th of August.
