Manchester United are confident of signing Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, however, failure to agree on personal terms and an agent fee has delayed the deal.

Head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made the Dortmund sensation Manchester United’s priority transfer target this summer.

However, both clubs are reportedly wide apart on the valuation of the winger. Dortmund wants around £108million for the 20-year-old, while United, who are not prepared to break the bank, are hoping to agree on a cut-price deal.

Dortmund chiefs Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl had earlier confirmed to the Reds that Sancho would stay in at the Signal Iduna Park this summer.

“We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions,” Zorc said.

“Last summer, we adjusted Jadon’s salary to match the development of his performances. So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then.”

Sebastian Kehl also openly backed up Zorc’s statement, stating Sancho is an important player for Dortmund.

“It was important to get clarity on the subject,” Kehl said.

“We know about Jadon’s attractiveness, but also of his importance to us. He gives our team that little extra. We’re happy that he’s staying.”

Despite their stance, Dortmund have permitted Manchester United to speak with Jadon Sancho, however, an agreement has failed to be reached between the club and player.

According to ESPN, United are confident of sealing a deal with Dortmund once personal terms are agreed with Sancho and a fee is struck with his agent.

Salary demands from Sancho’s camp have stalled negotiations, while the agent fee is reportedly too high for Manchester United.

The Red Devils are searching for a cheaper alternative should the Sancho deal fall through and have identified Bournemouth winger David Brooks for a potential transfer. Bournemouth have valued the 23-year-old around £40million.

Sancho is currently with the Dortmund squad for their pre-season camp in Switzerland.
