Manchester United has called off the Adrien Rabiot deal after his mother, Veronique Rabiot, demanded a weekly wage of £240,000.
After the Frenkie de Jong deadlock, Manchester United has hit another imbroglio in their pursuit of Juventus star Adrien Rabiot. The club has called off their £15m deal with Juventus to sign the French midfielder.
The proposed deal bumped into failure after Adrien Rabiot’s mother, Veronique Rabiot, and the player’s agent demanded a similar wage as Bruno Fernandes’s weekly earnings – £240,000.
Manchester United opted for the France international after it was apparent that they were falling out of a potential deal with Frenkie de Jong.
De Jong has reportedly opted to stay at Camp Nou despite facing the likelihood of a slashed wage and being owed £17m by Barcelona.
Barcelona President Joan Laporta and head coach Xavi Hernandez have maintained that De Jong must accept a pay cut if he is to stay at Barcelona as the club wreathes in the agony of a financial crisis.
The Red Devils have agreed to a £72m deal with Barcelona for de Jong, but scaling through personal terms with the player has been a tough nut to crack.
Erik Ten Hag switched his focus from de Jong to Adrien Rabiot, who was more likely to sign for the Red Devils. Rabiot has reportedly been out of favor at Juventus after the Old Ladies Turin acquired back their runaway midfielder from Manchester United, Paul Pogba.
Left out of Juventus preseason squad, Rabiot was forced to train with Juventus U-23. He still has a year remaining in his Juventus contract and the Italian giants were ready to let him leave.
In a sad turn of events, the deal may not see the light of the day as Manchester United has reportedly pulled out of the agreement after Rabiot’s mother demanded nothing less than £240,000 weekly wage for her son as part of the personal agreement.
Futballnsws gathered that Rabiot’s mother’s demand is the equivalent of Bruno Fernandes’s earnings at Old Trafford. He is one of the top earners at Old Trafford. According to Samuel Luckhurts, Manchester United are concerned with the huge wage and are not ready to proceed with the deal.
Already it has been confirmed that Man United’s position has been communicated to Juventus; that the club can only return to the deal unless something happens on the player side, Fabrizio Romano reported. It has also been revealed, that Veronique Rabiot’s jumbo wage demand is a deliberate tactic to keep Rabiot from suitors until his current contract with Juventus expires.
Manchester United has already declared their position on Rabiot’s deal. It has deviated the radar from the Frenchman as they make frantic efforts to seal leakages in the beleaguered squad before the transfer window closes. They are currently eyeing Casemiro from Real Madrid and Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid.
