Manchester United have been christened as Premier League’s most valuable club, according to new research.
The Red Devils have retained their position as the Premier League’s most valuable club, with a value amount worth £4.8 billion [$5.95b].
Ten Hag’s United team have long been the most valuable club in the English league and have retained their streak after their value heightened by 28 percent over two years.
The news that United were identified as the most valuable club in England would please the club’s owner, the Glazer family as they attempt to sell the Red outfit.
Manchester United’s sudden valuation growth according to reports, including the boosted values of other clubs was said to have happened after the return of fans to stadiums following the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the covid-19 pandemic, clubs’ revenues drastically dropped due to matches having to be played behind closed doors.
According to the new research carried out by Sportico, Manchester United’s value is worth £4.8 billion ($5.95bn), a figure more than £1bn than second-place Liverpool.
The Red Devils’ arch-rivals Liverpool and Manchester City were ranked second and third respectively with valuations of £ 3.8 billion [$4.71b] and £ 3.5 billion [$4.43b].
Meanwhile, Manchester United can brazen up their valuation by qualifying for the UEFA Champions League this season following their superb form as they occupy fourth place in the Premier League despite a poor start under new manager Erik ten Hag.
Furthermore, current Premier League toppers Arsenal moved up to the fourth spot with their value of £ 2.9 billion [$3.6b], leaving Chelsea behind in fifth place with £ 2.8 billion [$3.47b].
Mikel Arteta’s raging Gunners overtook their London rivals, Chelsea, despite the ownership being taken over by Todd Boehly with a £4.25bn bid.
Meanwhile, the offer appears to be well over the value of the Stamford bridge occupant, with Sportico’s study valuing the Blues at £2.8bn.
Tottenham Hotspur is the only other side to be valued in billions with other clubs steering around millions of pounds.
The rest of the clubs in the most valuable clubs’ list see the Hammers as the most valuable club outside of the ‘Big Six’ with an estimated value of £ 539 million.
Despite Newcastle United sitting at the tenth spot with £356m, the club was the only side that saw their team grow in value the most from 2021- 2023 with a 63 percent increase bringing them to a total value of 357 million.
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s abrupt growth over the two years could be because of the change in ownership by their Saudi led-takeover in 2021.
Leeds United took the 11th spot with £ 305 million while Bournemouth sit at the bottom with £115 million.
