All things being equal, Manchester City might announce the signing of Jack Grealish before the end of this week as the England international is currently at Manchester for his medical.
Media reports in the United Kingdom confirmed that all the necessary paperwork which is related to Jack Grealish’s transfer to Manchester City have been signed and sealed. The only thing left for the deal to be 100 percent complete is for the player to undergo medical today, August 5, 2020.
Once that is done and everything comes out well, Manchester City will be free to officially announce Jack Grealish as their new player ahead of the 2021-2022 season.
Recall that Manchester City paid Aston Villa £100 million for the services of the 25-year-old left-winger which Villa had no choice but to accept since the player made it clear that he wanted to exit the club.
Villa were never willing to sell their academy player who has grown to become the club’s talisman over the years. They tried to offer him a new contract but the player refused to extend his contract because he wanted to join a club where he could win major titles.
Jack Grealish still has four years left on his current contract with Aston Villa but his ambition to compete at the highest level of club football would not allow him to be so patient with Aston Villa.
Reports claimed that the new contract which Villa wanted to offer Jack Grealish would have earned him more wages than what Manchester City intend to pay him when he becomes their player. But the England international chose to win titles over making more money.
Based on viral reports, Manchester City have agreed to offer Grealish a five-year contract which means that once the deal is done, the 25-year-old attacking midfielder would remain at Manchester City until June 30, 2026.

Once the deal is done, Jack Grealish would become the most expensive English football star in the history of football. He would also become the first player a Premier League side paid £100 million for.
Hence, Grealish will break the 2016 Premier League transfer record which is being held by Paul Pogba after Manchester United paid Juventus £93.25 million to bring the French midfielder back to the Premier League.
Jack Grealish who has been at Aston Villa throughout his football career has played 200 times for the club in which he scored 32 goals in all competitions. He is expected to strive under coach Pep Guardiola at Manchester City from the forthcoming 2021-2022 season.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have signed English striker, Danny Ings from Southampton for £25m on a three-year deal. Though he is not a direct replacement for Grealish, he is seen as a leader that might bring a lot to the table just like how Grealish did while at the club.
The 29-year-old England international who scored 14 goals last season is the fourth superstar that Villa have signed this summer. The other new arrivals at the club are Leon Bailey, Emi Buendía, and Ashley Young.
Aston Villa plans to sign Norwich City attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell once Grealish’s move to City is finalized. The English star will be a direct replacement for Grealish.
