In the latest documentary released by Netflix on Manchester City’s historical treble in the 2022–23 season, the platform showed Guardiola epic ranting after Manchester City were eliminated in the Carabao Cup by Southampton.

The Manchester City side showed their most horrible performance against Southampton in St. Mary’s Stadium, which stopped the club from qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2022–23 Carabao Cup.

In the documentary, Pep Guardiola said, “Tell me the explanation for today. Tell me! Do you think it’s normal? The way you performed? The problem is that you’re starting the problem. In the game, something happens, and everyone heads down. There is no one to do something.”

“Honestly, do you think it’s normal what we have done today? For this club? Do you think it’s normal? For the guys who travel, who don’t have money to pay their heater at home, to come here to follow us to perform in this way.”

“Do you think it’s normal? WOW! My team is not like that. We’ll be in trouble. We’ll be in trouble. I don’t accept that. Sport and life are body language. How you approach life, how you approach the game.”

“This is body language, and when you make a bad pass and the other complains like this, you can start badly, but you have 80 minutes left to play. How do you react?”

The manager proceeded to complain about how displeased he was after Southampton scored the second goal against his own team in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup.

He said, “Ah, they scored a goal, a second one; oh, it’s here, it’s there’. You want to play? You want the ball? You want to move? You want to fight? As a brother? Down to the earth, everyone, guys. Work harder, work better. Be humble; be ambitious. Otherwise, the academy is ready.”

After his ranting against Southampton, the Manchester City side stumbled on a loss to their archrival Manchester United at Old Trafford on January 14, 2023.

Despite those poor performances against Southampton and Manchester United, Manchester City left the shambles and proceeded to win the Premier League after Arsenal slipped off the top.

Also, Manchester City defeated their neighbour Manchester United to win the FA Cup, and a win against Inter Milan in the Champions League final gave Pep Guardiola the historical treble.

The Manchester City side were the second English team to have won the treble. Apart from the treble, the Pep Guardiola men proceeded to win the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup, thereby becoming the first English team to achieve such a feast.

Manchester City are still in quest to win the treble for the second time in a row this season. They are currently in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, the semi-finals of the FA Cup, and three points off the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand.
