The Manchester United forward thanked God for being a father, and for the gift of handsome Benjinha, describing him as the “love of his life.”

Professing his love for Benjinha, Fred described the handsome little boy as “sweet, gentle, smiling, and obedient”.

He prayed God to guide every step of Benjinha’s life with lots of health, love, and blessings.

Benjinha is Fred’s only son from his wife Monique Calum, a Brazilian beauty and graduate of chemical engineering.

Fred’s Family

Fred is married to the love of his life Monique, who shares the same nationality as the Man United star.

Fred and Monique are also age-mates and were born in 1994 in Brazil.

Monique Salum is a devout Christian and was reportedly baptized by Alisson Becker the goalie for Liverpool, who is said to be one of her best friends.

She attended the Center of Belo Horizonte University and is practicing as a chemical engineer.

Benjinha is their first child. He was born on January 17, 2019, a year after they got married.

Fred’s football career.

Fred started his football career at the Brazilian club Internacional, where he won the Campeonato Gaúcho twice. In June 2013, he signed up for the Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, where he won three Ukrainian Premier League titles. In 2018, Fred signed for Manchester United.

He has played for Brazil at under-20 and under-23 levels and made his senior international debut in November 2014.

Fred’s doping case and controversies

Fred tested positive for the banned diuretic hydrochlorothiazide after a sample was collected from him in the 2015 Copa América. In 2015, he released a statement declaring his innocence, while awaiting the results of a second sample.

Shakhtar Donetsk was cleared by UEFA to select him at the start of the 2015–16 season, after a complaint by Fenerbahçe over his appearance in a Champions League third qualifying round game.

In 2015, Fred was suspended from CONMEBOL for one year, preventing him from playing in any CONMEBOL-sanctioned games, but allowing him to continue playing for Shakhtar.

His ban was extended by FIFA in 2016 to cover all football activities.

It was the World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) that appealed against Fred’s ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) in 2016, asking for leniency for the player.

He returned from suspension in March 2017 but reached an agreement with WADA not to play until July 2017.

Since joining Premier League giant Manchester United for £47million, signing a five-year contract in 2018, Fred has been phenomenal for the Red Devils.

He has made 119 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals.

This season, he has made 22 appearances for Man United in all competitions, scoring two goals. He earns £130,000 weekly at Old Trafford.
