Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has taken a swipe at critics after United’s 4-2 win over Sheffield United.

The Red Devils hosted rock-bottom Blades in another thrilling Premier League clash that nearly spilled out of predictions.

United had to come back twice in the game, thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ masterclass which ensured the Red Devils survived the visitors’ scare and ran out with all three points.

Against the run of play, Jayden Bogle scored five minutes after the half-hour to give Sheffield United the lead but Harry Maguire restored parity a few minutes before the break.

Early in the second half, Ben Brereton Diaz fired the Blades in front again to make it 2-1 before Bruno Fernandes’ three-goal contributions turned the game around.

The Portuguese scored one from the spot to restore parity again for United before he scored and assisted Ramsus Hojlund to secure victory for the Red Devils.

It was another near-chatoic affair for the Red Devils. And the performance has been greeted with criticisms.

For context, United is far off the measure of their status this season, and fighting back twice against a relegation-threatened side was below the mark.

INEOS representative Sir Dave Brailsford and the newly recruited technical director were on the stands to watch the game and must have had enough to assess ten Hag

When asked what the two football administrators would make of the match, Ten Hag’s reply was wrapped with a subtle tirade directed at critics, especially after the Coventry FA Cup semi-final match.

He said;

“We were totally in control. I’ve seen a different game, sorry.”

United’s win against Sheffield United has seen the club boast their hopes of European football next season but are still far from the top four.
