It was all fire and brimstone in Major League Soccer (MLS), with Matchday 12 action birthing magical results.

Goals bash in the majority of the centers, as teams put their scoring boots on, as they continue their strive for success this term.

Major League Soccer (MLS) Matchday 12 results: Atlanta United 2-3 DC United

At the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta United fell to a home defeat against the visitors DC United.

Thiago Almada scored the opening goal of the game to put the home side ahead in the 16th minute before ex-Liverpool striker Christian Benteke restored parity for the visitors.

Benteke netted his second of the day in the 44th minute before an own goal from Matti Peltola brought the host back into the game.

Breathtaking Christian Benteke took the breath of DC United fans away, as he put them back into the lead with a fabulous header.

It looked like he had a personal vendetta against Atlanta United, and he delineated his brilliance sublimely by scoring a hat-trick.

CF Montreal 2-3 Inter Miami

In Montreal, Inter Miami continued their impressive display in the league this term, coming back from the dead to secure the three points.

Bryce Duke and Jules-Anthony Vilsaint had poked CF Montreal into a comfortable lead following goals in the 22nd and 32nd minute respectively.

However, the Herons experienced a quick turnaround in the dying embers of the first period, as Matias Rojas halved the deficit in the 44th minute.

In the 3rd minute of stoppage time in the opening period, Luis Suarez brought Inter Miami back on level terms, and they headed into the break strongly.

Benjamin Cremaschi completed the comeback for Inter Miami a minute before the hour mark, following a neat attacking movement involving Lionel Messi and Rojas.

Inter Miami secured another victory to remain at the summit of the Eastern Conference with 27 points from 13 matches, 3 points better than FC Cincinnati, who have played a game less.

New York Red Bulls 4-2 New England Revolution

Goals galore in New York, as the Red Bulls battered New England Revolution at the Red Bull Arena.

Lewis Morgan scored early for the home side in the 6th minute, before Carles Gil brought the New England Revolution back into the game.

Swiss midfielder Emil Forsberg took the Red Bulls back ahead via a spot kick in the 43rd minute, with Elias Manoel further increasing their lead in the 84th minute.

Two late goals – one to either side, saw the encounter end 4-2 in favor of the host, with Giacomo Vrioni putting his side into a position of eyeing a potential comeback.

However, that hope was squashed, as Cameron Harper netted in the 3rd minute of stoppage time to seal the victory for the New York Red Bulls.

Philadelphia Union 2-3 Orlando City

Philadelphia Union continued their abysmal run in recent matches, as they have now gone on a 5-match winless run.

Mikael Uhre put them in front in the 12th minute, but Orlando City replied with two goals in the opening period through Duncan McGuire and Luis Muriel in the 21st and 42nd minute respectively.

Muriel didn’t put a pause on his goals there, as he netted another just after the restart of action in the second 45.

In the 66th minute, Daniel Gazdag reduced the deficit for Philadelphia Union, beating goalkeeper Pedro Gallese seamlessly via a penalty.

Toronto FC 2-3 New York City FC

Both teams from New York gave their fans something to smile, about due to their victories in Matchday 12.

New York City FC put themselves into a cruising position in the opening period, with Santiago Rodriguez scoring in the 23rd minute.

Malachi Jones doubled the lead for the away dude in the 44th minute, with a marvelous shot into the bottom right corner.

Toronto FC went into the break trailing and dejected by their display in the opening half.

They came out brightly in the second 45, with Federico Bernardeschi scoring 10 minutes after the restart.

However, their efforts to get back into the game were thwarted, with Andres Perea scoring a crucial goal for New York City FC in the 78th minute.

One minute before the end of regulation time, Raoul Petretta scored the 2nd of the game for the hosts, but it was not enough to see them back into the affair.

Toronto’s Federico Bernardeschi also received a second yellow and an automatic red card in the 9th minute of added time, having been initially handed a yellow in the 22nd minute of the Major League Soccer affair (MLS).
