Luka Modric has revealed what he told his Real Madrid teammates days before the FIFA World Cup break.

Luka Modric, who is currently representing Croatia in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar for the fourth time, had his first appearance in 2006, and his second appearance was in 2014 in Brazil, he was in Russia in 2018 and now in Qatar 2022.

Luka Modric has been in a fine form in the ongoing tournament. So far, he has played five matches with zero goals with no assist.

    Speaking about his country’s performance
He said; “Before leaving for the World Cup we talked a lot about the tournament in the Madrid dressing room, I told my teammates. Watch out for Croatia.

“We don’t have an issue with that because others are the favorites and we are in the background because we are a small country and everyone looks at the large countries instead of us”.

Note that Luka Modric led Croatia to knock out Brazil that paraded two Real Madrid superstars – Rodrigo and Vinicius Jr.

Croatia’s current good run in Qatar came after their World Cup performance in Russia 2018, which includes three consecutive knockout victories via either penalties or extra time.

After Croatia defeated pre-tournament favorites Brazil on penalties, the 37-year-old midfielder guided his team to a second straight World Cup semifinal.

Along with being eager to take on former club rival Lionel Messi, he is also ready to advance past the semifinal stage once more.

In the World Cup quarterfinal in Qatar, the famous midfielder produced yet another outstanding performance as his country stunned Brazil on penalties.

Since his international debut in 2006, Modric has earned 160 caps for his country, and he continues to be a talismanic figure for his people as they approach their second straight World Cup final.

Ivan Perisic, Dejan Lovren, Modric, and Marcelo Brozovic are some of the team’s talents who are 30 or older, yet they still exhibit quality and tenacity in equal measure.

And Modric thinks there are parallels between Croatia and his club team, Real Madrid, based on their most recent performances in a big event.

In their ascent to the final four, Croatia demonstrated both class and grit in equal measure, and Modric thinks the Los Blancos mindset is also prevalent in Croatia.

The 37-year-old has five Champions League championships to his name during his time with Los Blancos, including last year when they upset Liverpool in the championship game after making seemingly impossible comebacks against PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester City in the elimination rounds.

Luka Modric is set to face Argentina.

In just five games, their talisman Lionel Messi has been on fire, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists.

Modric, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2018 as a result of his performances in Russia four years ago, was upbeat about the challenge ahead and convinced he could guide his country to the final.
