Luka Modric has been linked to a summer exit from Real Madrid as his contract comes to an end this summer.
There have been reports the World Cup finalist and Ballon d’Or winner will leave Santiago Bernabeu this summer with a move to Saudi Arabia on the table.
Luka Modric’s rumored Real Madrid exit is coming at the backdrop of an earlier report by Relevo that he has reached a verbal agreement for a one-year contract renewal with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are closing in on Jude Bellingham deal. The English youngster is at the heart of Real Madrid’s midfield plan hence the rumors linking Luka Modric to a summer exit.
However, Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has reportedly backed Luka Modric’s contract extension to provide a ladder for Jude Bellingham’s quick integration into Real Madrid.
Ancelotti counts on Modric’s experience to help the young lad on his way to a great career at Santiago Bernabeu.
With the La Liga season set to be wrapped up in days and key players in the team running out of contract, the future of Luka Modric has made the headlines.
Spanish outlet Relevo revealed Luka Modric verbally agreed a one-year contract extension with the club but has been confirmed the two parties are yet to put pen on paper for the new deal with just weeks remaining in his contract.
Now, according to Fabrizo Romano, Luka Modric will stay at Real Madrid for the next one year with the two parties expected to sign the paperworks to the effect of the new deal.
Fabrizio Romano also dispel rumors Luka Modric has accepted a proposal from a Saudi club to join his former teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, in Saudi Pro League. The club are expected to announce Luka Modric ‘s new deal soon.
“Luka Modric has not accepted any bid from Saudi and has no intention to do”, the transfer expert wrote.
”Modric’s plan is very clear. He wants to stay at Real Madrid. No other option in his mind since long time, Fabrizio Romano reports.”
Meanwhile, some big name players will be hitting the exit door at Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
Top striker and French star, Karim Benzema, will leave the club this season with reports emerging he will play his last home game for the club against Atletico Bilbao.
Karim Benzema is second on the chart of all-time top scorers for Real Madrid with 354 goals behind Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 450 goals for the club.
He is set for a reunion with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia with reports he will bag a £346m deal for two years with Al-Ittihad.
Also, Marco Asensio is also set to leave the club. Asensio has rejected Real Madrid’s new contract offer after struggling for game time under Carlo Ancelotti.
Toni Kroos’ contract will also be up in the summer but Marca reports he has signed a one-year contract extension to stay at the club till 2024.
