    Luis Suarez took to his Instagram account to celebrate his first Gremio trophy together with his family after helping the team beat Caxias do Sul.

    The prolific striker continued his goal-scoring prowess as he helped Gremio win Brazil’s Rio Grande do Sul state trophy over Caxias do Sul.

    The ex-Barcelona and Liverpool striker scored from the spot in the second half to gift the host a 1-0 victory in Saturday’s second leg of the final at Arena do Gremio in Porto Alegre.

    Both teams initially played a one-all draw in the first leg of the encounter last week’s Saturday.

    Suarez said after the match that; “The most important thing is how we’re working together as a team.”

    “We’ve started the year the best way possible and won the title that everybody at the club wanted.”

    Suarez since joining Gremio as a free agent in January 2023 has scored eight times and provided three assists in 14 appearances.

    Luis Suarez, 36, confirmed the club’s focus is now on the Brazilian Serie A Championship.

    The Porto Alegre team will battle with Santos – Neymar’s childhood club at home on 16th of April.

    He went on to say; “We’ve won this important title but now we have to start from scratch.”

    “I’ve been very lucky to have won a lot of things in my career, but I still want more”.

    The Uruguayan has won two European Golden Shoes, an Eredivisie Golden Boot, a Premier League Golden Boot, and a Pichichi Trophy.

    Sofia Balbi, Suarez’s wife was born on the 11th of November 1989 in Montevideo, in a rich, middle-class family.

    Sofia’s father was a worker in the banking sector and because of his job, their family had to leave Uruguay and moved to Spain.

    Sofia was 13 years old as at that time the family immigrated to Spain and she studied there too.

    She has three siblings, a boy and two girls – her brother Gonzalo Bali is a football player.

    Suarez met with Sofia when he was just a “street sweeper” in Montevideo and Sofia Balbi age was 13, he fell in love with her afterward.

    Sofia did not mind being in a relationship with Suarez despite her family being up the class ladder and his family being bottom.

    Sofia reportedly encouraged Suarez to start playing football professionally, but two years later Sofia had to move to Spain with her family.

    Luis Suarez later talked about his immigration, he said; “When Sofia went to live in Spain, I stopped playing football.”

    The major reason Luis Suarez decided to become a professional footballer and immigrate to Europe was his strong love for Sofia.

    The pair finally got married in 2009 and have three kids together, a daughter and two sons.
