Louis van Gaal is performing well on the sidelines at the World Cup with his team Netherlands, and the veteran coach is very hot off the field too.

Following the 3-1 victory against USA in the round of 16, Van Gaal kissed Denzel Dumfries before making Memphis Depay laugh hysterically by awkwardly attempting to kiss the forward.

In response to Angel Di Maria’s remarks that Van Gaal was the “worst” coach he had ever played under, the 71-year-old cracked up.

Di Maria, who played under Van Gaal’s coaching era at Manchester United, spoke to TyC Sports saying: “My problem at Manchester was the coach.”

“Van Gaal was the worst of my career. I would score, assist, and the next day he would show me my misplaced passes.”

“He displaced me from one day to the other, he didn’t like players being more than him.”

After then, a question regarding Di Maria’s comments was directed at Van Gaal ahead of Friday’s quarterfinal clash between Argentina and Holland.

The coach defended himself as he was seated next to Depay, a player he had previously coached at Old Trafford.

Van Gaal said: “Di Maria calling me the worst manager he has ever had?”

“He’s one of the few players with this opinion. I’m really sorry about this and I find it sad he said this.”

Van Gaal continued, wrapping his arm around Depay: “Memphis had to deal with it too at Manchester, and now we kiss each other on the mouth.”

The forward and the press conference observers who were watching Van Gaal’s faux advance were in fits of laughing.

Depay laughed in response to his boss’ remark, waving his finger and slamming the table.

On Friday night, Holland plays Argentina for a spot in the World Cup semifinals.

On December 18, the victor of that match will compete with the winners of Brazil vs. Croatia for a place in the World Cup final on December 18.

What Did Di Maria Say About Louis van Gaal

Angel Di Maria of Argentina has never been afraid to talk about working for Louis van Gaal, whom he once called “the worst of my career.”

In the highly anticipated World Cup quarterfinal matchup between Argentina and the Netherlands, a squad Van Gaal has significantly improved over the past 12 months, the two are expected to reunite.

Di Maria, a former Manchester United forward who the Dutch manager hired in 2014, isn’t exactly a fan of the Dutch coach. Recall that Di Maria was frustrated at Old Trafford that he had to force himself out of the club in 2015, less than a year after he joined the club from Real Madrid.

In reality, the Argentine attacked Van Gaal in an interview with the Argentine daily TYC Sports saying; “My problem at Manchester was the coach. Van Gaal was the worst of my career. I would score, assist, and the next day he would show me my misplaced passes.

“He displaced me from one day to the other, he didn’t like players being more than him.”

In the summer of 2014, Manchester United acquired the Argentine forward from Real Madrid for a then-British record £59.7 million.

He signed a five-year contract with Old Trafford and received the number 7 jersey, which had previously belonged to players like David Beckham, George Best, Eric Cantona, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He came in after an impressive World Cup performance with Argentina and a Man of the Match showing in Real Madrid’s Champions League final victory over Atletico Madrid.

Nevertheless, despite a promising beginning, it was never successful in Manchester. In actuality, Van Gaal and United cut their losses by selling him to PSG for £44 million 11 months later.

Shortly after he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2015, Di Maria acknowledged that his friendship with Louis van Gaal contributed to his family’s difficulty adjusting to life in Manchester.
