Los Angeles FC have completed the signing of France’s record goal scorer Olivier Giroud, months after reaching a verbal agreement with the striker.
Based on reports, Giroud has signed a contract with the Major League Soccer side which runs until December 2025.
Olivier Giroud will exit AC Milan in the summer of 2024 as a free agent, as he is ready for a new chapter in his career.
The 37-year-old, who is at the twilight of his career is set to be the latest notable name that will don the colours of Los Angeles FC, after stars like Giorgio Chiellini and Gareth Bale.
Los Angeles FC will be the eighth team that Giroud has played for in his about 2-decade-long footballing career.
The former Chelsea man began his career at French club Grenoble, playing for Istres and Tours before his breakthrough with Montpellier where he lifted the Ligue 1 title in 2012.
Olivier Giroud then moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2012, and he was at the club until 2018.
Following his stint in North London, Giroud signed for Chelsea in 2018, spending three seasons at the club, where he won the Champions League in 2021.
He subsequently left the Blues for Serie A side AC Milan in 2021, and he won the Scudetto with the side in the 2021/22 season.
Olivier Giroud is the all-time top scorer of the French national team, with 57 goals in 131 appearances.

His move to Los Angeles FC will see him reunite with his best friend at national team level and former captain Hugo Lloris, who retired from international football after France were beaten by Argentina in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Lloris moved to LAFC from Tottenham Hotspur in December 2023 and he is also enjoying his time at the California-based side.
Olivier Giroud is renowned for his heading prowess, alongside his link-up abilities in the attacking department.
The former Arsenal man has had a really successful career winning several trophies, including; 1 FIFA Cup, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 UEFA Europa League, and 2 League titles (1 Ligue and 1 Serie A).
Giroud scored 284 goals and provided 100 assists in 713 club appearances across all competitions.
He certainly will be helpful to Los Angeles FC as they battle to win the MLS cup this season, with rife competition expected to be seen from Eastern Conference side Inter Miami, who have notable stars in their fold, namely; Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.
Meanwhile, Olivier Giroud has made 42 appearances this campaign for AC Milan, scoring 15 goals and providing 9 assists in all competitions.
He certainly hasn’t lost touch attacking wise and LAFC will be banking on him to produce the goods in the United States Of America.
