In a letter to the department, Labour’s shadow attorney general Emily Thornberry questioned the use of Foreign Office expense cards, which was up to 45% from the previous year.

She questioned why there had been expenses for the officials, including two payments to the relegated Premier League team at the time.

The payments were made on two different days: £523.50 on March 21 and £1,318 on October 21.

Liz Truss, a South West Norfolk MP, served as the department’s foreign secretary at the time.

When she served as the Chief Secretary to the Treasury in 2018, she tweeted about Norwich City.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, she was holding talks with Gulf leaders in October 2021 and meeting with the Ukrainian defense minister in March.

To date, who requested the payments or what was bought under the watch of Liz Truss is unknown.

Ms. Truss revealed to a throng of party members at Leeds United’s Elland Road during a Conservative leadership debate in July that she was a Norwich City supporter.

She remarked, “What can I say? They’re a fine family club.

“Delia [Smith, the joint majority share holdera ]’s great woman, great cookbooks, I think you can all agree.”

Ms. Thornberry wrote in a letter to Foreign Office junior minister Gillian Keegan MP that she found it challenging to comprehend why the department had spent money on things like “high-end private catering; wellness and beauty treatments; extensive supplies from UK wineries; large amounts of home furnishing; and even £1,841 at the Norwich City club shop”.

She further inquired as to how officials came up with £4,333 for “two trips to the hairdresser.”

How Is Liz Truss Connected to Norwich City

Liz Truss has now succeeded in upsetting a sizable fanbase by claiming to favor Norwich.

When the debate went to football at a Leeds Conservative hustings, the new prime minister admitted that she is a Norwich City supporter.

Truss, who grew up in Leeds, drew jeers from the audience when she said that she had transferred her allegiance from the Yorkshire team to Norwich FC.

The Tory leader complimented joint majority shareholder Delia Smith and described Norwich as a “nice family club.”

The audience responded more favorably when she added that the Conservatives must emulate Leeds great Don Revie if they are to defeat Keir Starmer’s Labour in the upcoming general election.

However, Norwich supporters’ response on social media was hardly favorable.
