Liverpool are looking at appointing a new set-piece coach, following the announcement of Arne Slot as head coach, and they have apparently thrown it open to anyone interested through LinkedIn.

The Reds confirmed on Monday, May 20, 2024, that Slot will become the club’s new head coach, replacing Jurgen Klopp on June 1, 2024.

Arne Slot will arrive at Liverpool after three seasons at Feyenoord, with whom he won the Eredivisie in the 2022/23 season and the KNVB Cup during the recently concluded 2023/24 campaign.

New individuals are set to accompany the incoming of Slot, as the Reds look to get things in place for the post-Klopp era.

There is one position left to be occupied and that is the position of Liverpool’s set-piece coaching role.

Anyone Interested In The Liverpool Set-piece Coach Role at Liverpool Can Apply Through LinkedIn

In a bid to fill that position, the Reds have advertised a first-team set-piece coaching role on the famous recruitment platform LinkedIn.

Liverpool are interested in appointing a suitable candidate who holds a UEFA A License or its equivalent.

Meanwhile, some of the job descriptions include analyzing opponents’ set-piece tactics and delivering high-intensity and engaging sessions on their strategies.

A prospective set-piece specialist must also team up with Slot to design Liverpool’s training week and give sporting director Richard Hughes metrics in strategy meetings.

Liverpool are eyeing candidates with a “proven track record” of success when it comes to set-piece design in elite football in a first-team environment.

In addition, the Merseyside-based club are also interested in candidates with “substantial knowledge of the technical and tactical understanding of football”.

The requirements also include working flexibly during the week, in the midst of matches slated for the evenings and weekends of the upcoming campaign.

    Contributions Of A Set-piece Coach

The impact of a set-piece coach in the modern game cannot be overemphasized as it has helped Premier League clubs in recent years.

Arsenal netted 21 goals through set-piece during the 2023/24 season, and this is due to the contributions of their set-piece specialist, Nicolas Jover.

Jover in the past worked as a set-piece coach at Manchester City before heading to North London after the Gunners appointed Mikel Arteta as manager in December 2019.

Chelsea will also welcome a new set-piece coach in the summer of 2024 as Bernardo Cueva will join the club from Brentford.

Moreover, whoever is brought in as set-piece coach of Liverpool has a lot of work on their table alongside boss Arne Slot.

Arne Slot and his subordinates will be looking to keep the Reds at a competitive state, whilst also leading them to trophies.

Slot replaces Jurgen Klopp, who guided Liverpool to every major title available to be won except the UEFA Europa League.

The German, who joined Liverpool in 2015, won several trophies during his time at the club, including; 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 FIFA Club World Cup, and 1 Premier League.

Klopp said goodbye to the Reds on Sunday, May 19, 2024, following the Anfield side’s 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It was an emotional day for supporters of Liverpool, as they saw a man who turned them from “doubters to believers” exit the team.

Anyway, it will be fascinating to see how the Arne Slot era turns out to be, with a lot of responsibility definitely heaped on his shoulders and the pressure to deliver present in his mind.
