Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur: Team News

Liverpool are going into this battle of the table-toppers with some of their best players still out with various degrees of injuries. The club suffered a scare last weekend when Jurgen Klopp had to move Jordan Henderson from his natural midfield position to defense in their 1-1 draw away to Fulham because Joel Matip had to be taken off in the second half for what looks like an injury worry.

Though there is a high possibility that Matip would be fit for tonight’s match, Jurgen Klopp will wish his best defender Virgil van Dijk is back from his injury and available for today’s game.

Liverpool’s list of injury worries are endless and the list is expanding after almost every match. The good thing is that most of the injured players get a speedy recovery.

Besides Van Dijk, other Liverpool players that might not be seen close to the club’s bench tonight include Thiago Alcantara, Joe Gomez, James Milner, and Xherdan Shaqiri.

On the other hand, coach Jose Mourinho has a couple of injury worries though not as bad as that of Liverpool. He might lead a Tottenham side without Erik Lamela and Japhet Tanganga who are still battling to recover from their injuries.

The club’s loanee, Gareth Bale, could be available for tonight’s game as he reportedly missed the weekend draw against Crystal Palace because of an undisclosed illness. Besides that, the usual suspects, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane are 99 percent available for tonight’s game.

    Liverpool probable starting lineup:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones; Salah, Firmino, Mane

Tottenham Hotspur probable starting lineup: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon; Sissoko, Hojbjerg; Bergwijn, Ndombele, Son; Kane

    Prediction: Liverpool 0 – Tottenham 0
