Premier League giants Liverpool have triggered the release clause of Dominik Szoboszlai worth €70 million before it expired on June 30, 2023.
Liverpool had a positive meeting with Szoboszlai representatives on June 26, 2023, and were pressing ahead with the discussion to sign the player.
There has been a clear appreciation for Szoboszlai’s talent and attitude, as well as the Hungarian comfort in playing across the midfield.
Szoboszlai scored 10 goals and created 13 assists last season. Szoboszlai is a very good player and an incredible athlete with great techniques who loves to hit the ball from outside the box.
He also loves to take responsibility for moving the team forward. Szoboszlai has impressive chance creation stats, and his ball-carrying skill fits Jurgen Klopp’s profile.
Szoboszlai previously spoke about the prospect of working with Jurgen Klopp back in 2020, saying, “I really like Klopp; the way he can inspire his players is unbelievable.”

If the deal gets finalized, Szoboszlai would become the fourth-most expensive signing of all time at Liverpool, behind Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson Becker, and Darwin Nunez.
He will also become the third Hungarian player to play for Liverpool after Adam Bogdan and Istvan Kozma.
The Reds secured Alexis MacAllister at the start of June 2023 from Brighton for a transfer fee of around £35 million.
Liverpool are still looking at other midfield options; it was reported that the Reds are targeting Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella, but the midfielder is ready to stay at San Siro. The Italian wants to become a legend at the club.
Jurgen Klopp is also admiring Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch and Khephren Thuram of OGC Nice.
