Having the Premiere League title in the palm of their hands is not enough, Liverpool is determined to win on and off the field. Liverpool have confirmed they have agreed to a multi-year sponsorship deal with Nike. The deal will go into effect starting of next season with the contract reportedly worth a whopping £80million per year.

Their partnership with the American Sports and footwear giants is set to kick off on June 1, 2020 with Nike to kit out the senior men’s team, women’s side, academy squads, coaching staff and Liverpool FC Foundation.

Liverpool’s deal with Nike will see the club earn more than their long time rivals, Manchester United, who’s current contract with adidas fetches them roughly £75m a year. Prior to this Manchester United’s deal with adidas was a British record.

Though this is a big deal in terms of numbers, two La Liga Clubs still surpass Liverpool’s amount. Real Madrid (£98m) and Barcelona (£100m) are the only football teams who will earn more than Liverpool through kit sponsorship.

Their current sponsors New Balance, who have supplied the Reds’ kits since 2015, were unable to come to an agreement as the club have decided to cut ties with the Boston-based company.

Liverpool said in a statement: “Liverpool Football Club is delighted to announce Nike, the world’s leading footwear and apparel company, as its official kit supplier from the 2020-21 season.“

“The partnership coincides with our move into a new, state-of-the-art training facility in Kirkby for the 2020-21 season, a project that includes investment in improved sport facilities for the local community.”

Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently 13 points clear of second-placed Leicester and have a game in hand over the Foxes.
