Premier League champions, Liverpool appears to have reached an advanced talk with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, Denis Zakaria.
The German media had claimed that the Merseyside giants are interested in the Swiss midfielder.
The Empire of the Kop had asked Bild top reporter Christian Falk on any ‘Bundesliga bargains’ and he said Liverpool may be keen on the Switzerland international.
It was also gathered that Zakari was valued at €50m, but Falk said that a possible bargain will certainly come as a welcome boost to elite teams.
Zakaria played 31 games across all tournaments for Monchengladbach last season, scoring two goals and creating two assists. His solid displays also helped Monchengladbach to secure UEFA Champions League qualification.
Denis Zakaria a versatile player who can help Liverpool
The 23-year-old, who is a versatile midfielder is the kind of versatile talent that could flourish under Jurgen Klopp’s tutelage at Anfield. He can play in the traditional central midfield role or even as a makeshift center-back.
So, it’ not surprising for such talent to be targeted by an elite club like Liverpool. Although Flk said he might stay in the Bundesliga for one more season before moving to Anfield due to Red’s current options in the middle of the park.
“I know that Liverpool has its eyes on Zakaria from Borussia Mönchengladbach. This is a very talented player who will hit the market next year. A move to the Premier League is easy for him to imagine,” Christian Falk had said on Red’s interest in Denis.
Due to his versatility and his comfortability on the ball, Zakari will no doubt appeal to top teams in the near future.
However, it is surprising that Liverpool is yet to make any other reinforcement apart from Konstantinos Tsimikas from Olympiacos for about 14m Euros.
It’s looking like the Reds are not willing to spend much this summer. It was reported that they have agreed on personal terms with Bayern Munich midfielder, Thiago Alcantara.
“It’s ‘nice’ to be linked with a footballer like Thiago Alcantara, but that’s all’, Jurgen Klopp said.
