When football fans thought Liverpool football club is already the champions of the Premier League, the coach of the side, Jurgen Klopp, has insisted that the title is not theirs yet.

Before the coronavirus pandemic halted football in the Premier League on March 13, Liverpool football club has already gathered so many points that they topped the league table with a whopping 82 points with 9 games to play. While the second-placed Manchester City has 57 points, meaning that the gap between the two clubs is as wide as 25 points.

Hence, Liverpool football club has to lose all their remaining 9 matches while Manchester City has to win 9 out of their remaining 10 matches before the two teams can swap position. This is only possible mathematically but not possible in reality. All Liverpool has to do is to win at least 2 matches and the title is theirs for the first time in 30 years.

“It’s nice to think about it but we are not champions yet and we know that,” the club’s coach, Jurgen Klopp told BBC. “We know we are close but close is not there. There are 27 points left for us and we will try everything to take them all.

“We are still not champions. We have to play football games and we have to win them.

“We don’t want to stop winning after two games or whatever it is. I don’t see results written in the stars; we have to work really hard.”

All things being equal, the last phase of the contest for one of the most prestigious league titles in Europe will resume on June 17 amid the coronavirus pandemic. Fans of Liverpool are already gearing up to celebrate the long-awaited victory though in lowkey due to the social distancing rule in the United Kingdom.

Unfortunately for Liverpool‘s fans and the players who have worked so hard all season long to emerge champions of the Premier League, they may not have the opportunity to carry out any form of victory parade across the city of Liverpool when they eventually emerge champions of the league. But Klopp feels he can work out something.

“If we become champions, whatever celebrations are possible we will do as a team internally and with all our supporters at the moment we are allowed to do so again,” Klopp said.

“I can promise that if it happens, there will be a parade as well. Whenever. Who cares! We only need one day when everybody is able to come and then we will do that.”
