It took until February for Liverpool to get their first Premier League win in 2023 as they defeated Everton thanks to goals from Mohammed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Jurgen Klopp gave his lads two days off to cool off and re-energize for the season after their abysmal loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The players definitely have repaid the manager with a swashbuckling and wonderful performance against lowly rated Everton as their play was filled with swagger all round.

This must be the kind of performance Jurgen Klopp was expecting from his Liverpool side and he would be thrilled to have been served such on a silver platter.

Jurgen Klopp would be reminiscing about the side that came close to lifting the quadruple last season and were within touching distance of achieving that feat.

Sean Dyche’s Everton dizzy all night

Sean Dyche’s Everton were drab all evening and it offered Liverpool the springboard to pick themselves up from their disastrous form which was seemingly heading for the ditch of mid table.

Current number one of the Three Lions of England, Jordan Pickford, showed his awareness of information by getting a printed picture on his bottle water indicating the four possible penalty takers of the Reds.

However, Jordan Pickford was culpable in a number of unbelievable mistakes that ultimately resulted in Mohammed Salah getting his first goal of 2023.

Pickford had a clowning evening at Anfield on Monday Evening as he alongside some of his teammates were orchestrators of the team’s loss on the night.

High profile signing from PSV Eindhoven in Netherland, Cody Gakpo who is yet to hit the ground running at the club since his £37million move from the Eradivisie scored his first goal for the Reds on Monday night.

Almost everyone expected Liverpool to splash the cash in getting the services of a central midfielder as this position is an area in the team where Liverpool needs quality additions.

    Liverpool back to full force?

Although on Monday Night Brazilian midfielder Fabinho, rolled back the years as he gave a commendable performance against the Toffes.

Jordan Henderson brought balance in the central area and youngster Stefan Bajcetic showed how amazing a player he would become.

Bajcetic by far was the best player of Liverpool on the night and there was also 20-minute of action for injured Diego Jota who had not played since midway October.

Roberto Firmino, the top scorer of Liverpool who has been injured since November was also given 10 minute of action under the floodlights at Anfield.

Dutch defender Virgil Van Dijk who had been injured since the 2nd of January was an unused substitute in the win over Everton.

This might be a precursor that would lead Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool out of the doldrums of a four match winless streak in the Premier League.
