Manchester United are set to lose Lisandro Martinez to the sidelines again just days after he returned from a lengthy injury lay-off.
Lisandro Martinez has been among the worst-hit players in Man United’s injury-stricken squad this season. According to Opta, almost all Man United players have been on the sidelines once or twice this season.
The team has been hit with injuries 42 times with Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro being the only players that have survived the injury plague.
Martinez, who got off to a roaring start for United following his £46m move from Ajax last season, has struggled on and off the sidelines this season since he picked up a metatarsal injury blow in United’s Europa League quarterfinal clash against Sevilla last season.
After a lengthy injury layoff, he was back to the team but was injured again. In United’s 1-1 draw against Brentford in the Premier League, the Argentine returned, coming on as a substitute for injured Victor Lindelof.
The 2022 World Cup winner saw off the last 20 minutes of the game and was set to feature in United’s mid-week Premier League cracker against Chelsea before being dealt another injury blow again.
According to reports from Man United’s medical team, Lisandro Martinez picked up an injury on Tuesday, April 2 during Man United training and will be ruled out of action for Manchester United again for one month.
He will reportedly return to action in May for United’s last Premier League games for the season. Victor Lindelof, who was subbed off during the Brentford match, is also set to be sidelined for a month before returning in May 2024.
Lindelof has also struggled with injury this season and had missed eight weeks of action for the Red Devils before his return.
The pair will be hoping to recover soon and return to action as United hope to wrap up the season on a high after a disappointing campaign.
