Lisandro Martinez of Manchester United took to his Instagram Account to share update from his sick bed after a successful surgery.

The defender shared update after he underwent a successful surgery on his fractured metatarsal in Europa League clash with Sevilla.

The Argentine international injured his foot in the closing seconds of United’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinal last week Thursday.

He was carried off by international teammates Marcos Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel of Sevilla after he could barely walk.

After undergoing an assessment of the injury the following day it was discovered that Martinez had fractured a metatarsal bone in his foot, which ruled him out of the season.

The defender who won the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar with Argentina, has now successfully completed surgery on the injury.

In the post he shared on Instagram, the defender wrote: “Everything went really well, thanks to God! Many thanks for all of your messages. Now focusing on the recovery.”

His teammates showed their gladness with the news that the surgery was successful through the post’s comment section.

David De Gea’s comment had a butcher’s knife while Alejandro Garnacho commented with a bicep and a heart Emoji – same as Bruno Fernandez.

Bjorn Hardley, a young United defender who could find himself in the first team line up as Martinez is out replied with “Coming back stronger.”

Marc Jurado also added: “Come on brother.”

Lisandro Martinez previously wrote on Instagram as his debut season was cut short by the injury, he said: “Not the way I imagined what’s been a very special season would end, but sometimes we face obstacles along the way that we have to overcome to make us stronger and we learn from them.”

“I know that I’ll be back very soon to go for more. In the meantime, I’ll continue to support all my team-mates to achieve our objectives.

“The number of messages and support I’ve received has been amazing, they’re giving me strength and encouragement at this moment. Many, many thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart.”

Lisandro Martinez

Lisandro Martínez is an Argentine footballer who plays as a centre-back for Premier League club Manchester United and the Argentina national team.

Martinez was born on 18 January 1998 and meaures 1.75m in height, he is also widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world.

The World Cup winning defender started his career at Newell’s Old Boys before joining Defensa y Justicia in 2017 on loan.

In 2019, the Argentine signed for Ajax where he featured in 120 matches in three season winning two Eredivisie titles and one KNVB Cup.

He was also named the Ajax player of the year in the 2021/22 season.

Lisandro Martinez previously represented Argentina at the under-20 and under-23 levels, before making his senior team debut in 2019.

He was also part of the Argentine squad that won the the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 Finalissima, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
