The 2022 World Cup legend is reportedly waiting for Laliga to relax their stifling hold on Barcelona to allow the club process the deal.

Barcelona transfer activities will be under heavy scrutiny by Laliga as the Spain football governing body remains unmoved on their transfer ban on the club if the club do not balance the books.

LaLiga ban have forced Barcelona to eye top-rated players who will be out of contract in the summer. Lionel Messi will join Barcelona as a free agent after his two-year contract at PSG expires in the summer but the club will come under scrutiny by Laliga on their wage offer for the 36-year-old.

As things stand, all is not said and done in the Barcelona-Messi link.

Messi is also linked to other clubs – Inter Miami are not backing off on the Argentina international.

Saudi Arabia are reportedly planning a mega offer to sign him; a move that will likely make him the highest-paid player in the world.
