Barcelona age long-player Lionel Messi is not ready to be a party to fake news as he came out on Thursday to clear his name from two trending stories related to him.

    Lionel Messi Vs Ronaldinho

One of such is that he paid for Ronaldinho’s $1.6 million bail which Ronaldinho, Messi’s former teammate at Barcelona, could not pay initially as widely reported then.

Recall that Brazilian football legend and current Ambassador of Barcelona, Ronaldinho and his brother, were arrested in Paraguay in March for travelling with fake Passport. They spent 32 days behind bars before they were released on Tuesday, 7 April 2020 and placed on house arrest.

They were later granted $1.6 million bail after an initial attempt to be released on bail was denied on the basis that the duo was likely to leave the country.

When the news came out that Ronaldinho who was rumoured to be broke has been able to pay such an amount of money, speculations began to fly that Messi sponsored the payment.

Hence, TNT Sports broke the story that Lionel Messi actually paid the $1.6 million to secure the release of the 40 years old former World footballer of the year.

    Lionel Messi Vs Inter Milan

The second news Lionel Messi had to debunk via his Insta story was his purported move to Serie A side Inter Milan.

Before the coronavirus pandemic put an end to football across Europe, there have been speculations that Messi has been unsettled in Barcelona. His contract with the Spanish giant will expire in 2021 and he was heavily linked with a move to Serie A.

Even former President of Inter Milan Massimo Moratti added his voice to the speculation when he featured on Radio Rai.

He said: “I don’t think it’s a forbidden dream at all. Maybe it wasn’t even before this misfortune (COVID-19 pandemic).

Messi is at the end of his contract and it would certainly be attempted to bring him home. I don’t know if this situation will change anything, but I think we will see strange things at the end of the year.”

Still, Messi told his over 147 million Instagram followers that both stories were false by screenshotting the tweets of TNT Sports and indicating fake news on them.

He wrote: “#FakeNews” and “Lie 1: Messi to Inter, Lie 2: Messi gave money to Ronaldinho in jail”.

Messi didn’t stop there. He added a sentence, which translates as: “What they said about Newell’s Old Boys a few weeks ago is also false, thank God no one believed them…”
