    Bayern Munich striker, Robert Lewandowski is now among the top four Champions League all-time goalscorers after scoring a brace in the 6-2 rout of Red Bull Salzburg yesternight.

    The Polish striker has been in fantastic form, scoring ten goals in five Bundesliga games. He had to wait till against the Austria champions to open his season account – he announced this with a brace.

    The goals have moved Lewandowski’s tally in the Champions League to 70 to become the fourth player to reach that figure, while Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Raul are the other three.

    The win also sees Bayern Munich maintained their 100% record in the 2020-21 Champions League.

    The hosts drew the first blood through Mergim Berisha. But Lewandowski restored parity from the penalty spot to make it 1-1.

    Bayern got into the lead via an own goal from home defender Rasmus Kristensen while substitute Masaya Okugawa equalised.

    Bayern would later regained the lead through Jerome Boateng header from a corner.

    Leroy Sane took the game beyond the hosts with a curler for the fourth goal, while Lewandowski headed a fifth and Lucas Hernandez added a sixth in injury time.

    Bayern already has a five-point gap separating them from second-placed Atletico Madrid, who drew 1-1 away at Lokomotiv Moscow in the other Group A match. The European champions had won all their group games.

    Winning the return leg against Salzburg on 25 November will qualify Bayern for the last 16 with two games to spare.

    With 12 goals from three games, the European champions have showed that they mean business this season as well and they don’t look like relenting.

    With 70 Champions League so far, Lewandowski is the fourth on the overall list behind Cristiano Ronaldo (130), Lionel Messi (117), and Raul (71).

    The 32-year-old Poland striker has now scored 14 goals for both clubs and country so far this season.

    Since his move from Borussia Dortmund to the Bavaria club in July 2014, Lewandowski has scored 257 goals in 297 games and has a career total of more than 400 career club goals as well as 63 goals in 114 international appearances.

    Last season was his best so far, scoring 59 goals in 53 games for club and country as Bayern won the Bundesliga and Champions League double.
