Leicester City vs Liverpool is a fixture to look out for this weekend not just because of the importance of the game but because of the entertainment it promises. The Premier League match is scheduled to take place at Kings Power Stadium on Saturday, February 13, 2021. The kick-off time is 13:30.
Leicester City will host the Premier League reigning champions at a very critical point of the season where Liverpool are struggling to win games, and where Leicester City are suffering their worst home form.
This situation is expected to make the Leicester City vs Liverpool fixture a very tight game which will see coach Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool and coach Brendan Rodgers of Leicester City play a very cautious game. None of the sides will want to be too adventurous throughout the 90 minutes.
However, a team like Liverpool that are known for their pacing wing play are expected to have a slight edge over their host. Klopp’s team will not want to continue with the terrible form that has characterized the team’s league campaign since the new year began.
Since January 2021, Liverpool have recorded a whopping 4 Premier League defeats and a draw in 7 league games. It became so bad that Liverpool recorded two defeats in a row for the first time under coach Jurgen Klopp.
The terrible form has pushed the embattled club from the first spot on the league table to the 4th where the club is currently hanging with just 40 points in 23 games. Liverpool need a whopping 10 points to contend with first-placed Manchester City despite playing one game more than City.
Liverpool’s situation is so bad that if they lose to Leicester City today, and 5th-placed Chelsea win their league match, Liverpool will drop out of the top four which will not be good for Klopp that has stressed that his target is to qualify Liverpool for the Champions League.
On the other hand, Leicester City are going into today’s game with relatively good form especially when it concerns their away records. Brendan Rodgers and his boys will be very worried about what Liverpool can do to them at King Power Stadium because most of their defeats this season happened at home.
For instance, so far this season, 5 of Leicester City’s 6 defeats happened at Kings Power Stadium. They have recorded more home defeats than they did in the entire 2019-2020 season.
Hence, Jurgen Klopp and his boys are expected to take advantage of Leicester’s poor home form to bury them as quickly as possible when the league match kick-off. But it will be difficult for Liverpool to defeat Leicester since the home team is aware that a defeat in the hands of Liverpool will push Brendan’s team down to the 4th spot due to Liverpool’s superior goals difference.
Besides their poor home form, Liverpool have been enjoying a better head to head against Leicester. For instance, Liverpool have won 16 of the last 20 matches involving them and Leicester which means that the odds are in favor of Liverpool.
