Chelsea FC made a third offer for Wesley Fofana, reportedly worth between £60 million and £70 million, which Leicester City rejected.

It is understood that add-on clauses, some of which Leicester City believe to be unrealistic, are included in the offer made for the 21-year-old center-back.

The Frenchman is not for sale, according to the Foxes, who are yet to win a game this year.

For Leicester City to even consider Chelsea’s offers, a defender would need to fetch a world record price of more than £80 million.

This summer, the Blues have already spent roughly £170 million, and a recent £40 million offer for Everton forward Anthony Gordon was also rejected.

The team of Thomas Tuchel is in talks with Barcelona to recruit Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a former striker for Arsenal.

Fofana was not included in the Leicester squad for their 2-1 loss to Southampton on Saturday which is an attempt to force the team to sell him. Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, claimed he was “not in the proper frame of mind to play”.

The defender, who transferred from St. Etienne to Leicester City in 2020 and has earned France Under-21 caps, inked a new five-year contract in March 2022 at the King Power Stadium.

Given that Leicester City play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, it is uncertain if Fofana will rejoin the team this weekend.

In an interview last night (Tuesday), Brendan Rodgers confirmed that his star center-back, Wesley Fofana, is only interested in joining Chelsea, despite appearing fairly worn out and exhausted over his effort to exit Leicester this summer.

“The teams need to agree because the player (Fofana) wants to leave”, the coach admitted.

“Therefore, when it occurs, the issue will be resolved.”

Through three rounds of the Premier League games, Leicester City is winless, and in the League Cup, they defeated Stockport County on penalties.

Of the 92 teams in the top four divisions of English football, Stockport is currently ranked 89th.

For once, Rodgers didn’t seem in the mood to act arrogant, and it appeared like all he wanted was to put an end to Wesley Fofana’s transfer saga so he could concentrate on keeping his job.

There is no denying that this has been a difficult time. There have been several distractions and rumors surrounding the club with no stand-out incoming signing so far this summer.

It’s usually preferable to stabilize a Premier League team as soon as possible before mid-season when the season is expected to be more intense.

So perhaps Leicester City is doing too much after turning down a third Chelsea offer, which could have been worth up to £70 million, and pushing Fofana, a very important player at the club, to the bench.

After Fofana extended his contract by five years in March, Leicester City are certain that they will be able to keep him and do not want to move him. Chelsea is prepared to put Leicester’s endurance to the test later this week by making an improved offer according to reports in London.
