Leicester City have lost six away games in the 2021/2022 season so far, double more than they lost in the 2020/21 season where they lost just three away games.

Wolves beat Leicester 2-1 at Molineux on Sunday, keeping them in contention for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Bruno Lage’s side took the lead in the ninth minute thanks to Ruben Neves’ goal, then came back to win all three points through Daniel Podence after Ademola Lookman had drawn the Foxes level.

Leicester, who haven’t won a Premier League game since beating Liverpool 1-0 on December 28, were placed under pressure early on, with the hosts seeking to attack in wide areas, and fell behind with less than 10 minutes remaining.

A left-wing cross caused panic in the box, but Raul Jimenez was able to hold the ball up and drag it back to Neves, who scored with a brilliantly executed first-time effort from the edge of the area.

Despite appearing shaky from set-pieces, the Foxes recovered strongly and tested Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa with powerful drives from Youri Tielemans and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, but they pulled level shortly before the break.

Marc Albrighton pounced on Tielemans’ beautiful defence-splitting pass and poked the ball across the area for Ademola Lookman. Wolves had only conceded two goals from open play in their previous 13 league games.

After the break, Leicester’s timing of the equalizer drove them forward, forcing Sa into a couple more saves before Tielemans hoisted a shot over the net once more.

But, despite the odds, Wolves took the lead again soon after. Podence grabbed a square ball on the outskirts of the area, positioned himself up, and struck a low shot into the bottom left corner, out of reach of Kasper Schmeichel.

The VAR is a virtual assistant. With two Wolves players standing in offside positions, Stuart Atwell evaluated the goal. He did, however, determine that neither of them had interfered with the game and confirmed the goal.

In the final stages, Brendan Rodgers introduced James Maddison and Kelechi Iheanacho in an attempt to force a much-needed equalizer, but Leicester City were unable to find it.
