Inter Milan might lose one of the club’s best striker, Lautaro Martinez to Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid this summer amid the financial difficulties the club have been battling with.
Though Inter Milan just became champions of Italian Serie A this season, they are in a serious financial crisis. Reports said the club’s debt has skyrocketed to a whopping £548 million.
According to reports in Italy, things have gotten so bad for Inter Milan that the club’s board is urging the players to forfeit two months of their wages to help the club battle financial difficulties.
Due to the high amount of debt at the club, the club’s board has reportedly decided to sacrifice some of the superstars at the club in the transfer market to raise money for the club.
Hence, Lautaro Martinez who scored 16 league goals and provided 8 assists this season has to be one of the players that would be sacrificed for the financial survival of Inter Milan.
Reports in Spain claimed that the current La Liga’s table toppers, Atletico Madrid are set to offer the 23-year-old Argentine striker a bumper deal which might tempt him away from Inter this summer.
A former player at Inter Milan, Christian Vieiri Ventola told an Italian media, Twitch, that he was informed that Atletico Madrid were ready to pay very high for Lautaro Martinez.
He said: ‘I’m going to drop the bomb: a little bird has told me that Lautaro will play for Atlético Madrid.
“They told me that everything is arranged and they are going to pay him a lot of money.”
On the other hand, Real Madrid have reportedly shown interest in Lautaro Martinez according to a report by Tuttosport. The newspaper claimed that Real Madrid are ready to offer the striker €9 million a season if he agrees to join the Spanish giants.
According to the report, Real Madrid intends to offer Inter Milan €90 million for Lautaro Martinez. The report claimed that the Spanish giants would deduct what Inter Milan are still owing Madrid for the signing of Achraf Hakimi from the Spanish club to the Italian club last summer.
However, Inter Milan reportedly want nothing less than €80 million for Martinez from any club that is interested in his services including Manchester City.
Amidst the speculation, Martinez whose contract with Inter Milan would expire in June 2023 reportedly wants to extend his contract with the club.
