The Premier League title has been decided and Liverpool football club have been declared the champions but there is still a serious battle for the top four. Managers like Manchester United‘s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Chelsea’s Frank Lampard who are in the thick of the war are not shaken but Everton’s Carlo Ancelotti can only hope that his club can compete for the league title soon.

Manchester United 3-0 win over Brighton on Tuesday has returned the club to the 5th spot with 52 points in 32 matches and 6 matches remaining to know whether European Champions League football is for the club or not. They currently have the same point with Wolves in the same number of games but they are ahead of Wolves due to better goals difference.

While Chelsea football club is currently sitting on the hot 4th spot with 54 points in 31 matches. They are just ahead of United and Wolves with two points. A win in their game against West Ham United later tonight will see them retain the spot with 5 points more than United and Wolves.

In the case of United, they are not too bothered about the mathematics of the league table, they are just focused on playing the games as they come. Their win over Brighton has taken their unbeaten run in all competitions to 15 so far. No wonder Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes that his team is filled with confidence and quality.

“I don’t care about making a statement, I know we are a good team”, Ole told Sky Sports after United’s match on Tuesday. “We are full of confidence and full of quality as well. The boys played some exceptional stuff.

“It’s always hard playing against Brighton, Graham [Potter’s] team keep the ball well, but we pressed well and started really well.”

While Frank Lampard says the substitution he made in Chelsea’s FA Cup win against Leicester City would not affect his selection for tonight match. He substituted Mason Mount, Reece James and Billy Gilmour after the first half of the FA Cup match which he described as Chelsea’s worst first half.

One of the players he brought in, Ross Barkley, was all Lampard needed to run away with a 1-0 victory and knocked out Leicester from the competition. Barkley scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute.

Ahead of their Premier League match tonight, some pundits believe that Frank Lampard does not longer trust in the ability of Mason Mount for not scoring or assisting in the last three games. But Frank insists that he still trust in the Englishman.

“There was no problem with Mason because it was a one-off game, I had to make a decision and it doesn’t affect my thinking for West Ham or going forwards”, the manager said.

“Mason played 90 minutes in both the first two games after the restart and was unfortunate not to score or have an assist. So he had two big performances in a week.

“And then with the Leicester game, Mason didn’t have a bad performance and my choices to change were more about the players I could bring into that performance as opposed to the ones that were on the pitch.”

“I hope soon Everton has to be competitive and fight for the first position of the Premier League with Liverpool, with Chelsea, with Tottenham, with Manchester United, with all the big teams,” Ancelotti told Sky Sports News. “I don’t know how long it takes but I hope that soon we are able to compete.

“We have a young squad with young players with a lot of skills, a lot of ability. I think just the fact that we can improve this skill and this ability can give us more opportunity to stay at the top.”
