Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, has criticized Javier Tebas, his La Liga rival, for his continuous criticism of the French team.

Recall that Tebas recently expressed a desire to file formal complaints against both the Ligue 1 club and Manchester City over their exuberant expenditure on players.

The complaints were filed after Paris Saint-Germain renewed Kylian Mbappe’s contract and Manchester City signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Tebas has been outspoken about his displeasure with PSG and their high business model. Speaking to Marca, the PSG president responded to Tebas’ comments and said; “Who is Tebas? I don’t know that person,” he began.

“Our style is not to interfere with the affairs of other clubs, leagues or federations. That’s not our style. But I am not going to accept others lecturing us.

“I don’t care what he says. The truth is we’ve been talking about this for years. We have a football project to build and we are going to go ahead. We’re not worried about everything that comes out in the media, because we can’t waste our time with everything that comes out. “Every year, every summer, it’s the same thing.

“He says we don’t respect Financial Fair Play, we don’t respect other teams…We know what we can do, and who we can sign. We know better than him what we can do and nobody has to tell us what to do.

“We don’t have to be told by someone from the outside what we can or cannot do. If we do something, it’s because we can. Look at the case of [Lionel] Messi.

“It was the same, they said it was financially impossible and we have made money with Messi. [Tebas] has no idea and should focus on his league because La Liga is a bit dead.”

Al-Khelaifi also replied to Tebas’ statement of calling PSG a ‘state club’. He said that big clubs in La Liga are given far more help than they are. “In Spain, the state supports some clubs more than us,” he said. “A magnificent stadium in the middle of the city without paying anything? We pay for the stadium and the training center – [Spain] support their clubs more. It’s not fair.”

Nasser Al-Khelaifi has also stated that former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane won’t coach Paris Saint-Germain. He added that the club is only interested in signing OGC Nice head coach Christopher Galtier ahead of next season.

Galtier took Lille to win the Ligue 1 in 2020 before moving to Nice last season but the recent offer from PSG might attract him to the billionaires club.
