According to sources, Riqui Puig, a discredited Barcelona midfielder, has verbally agreed to join LA Galaxy.

The LA Galaxy may finally offer Puig a way out of the Nou Camp as the Spanish team has been trying to sell him all summer.

The signing is reportedly expected to be official this evening.

Puig, 22, made just 14 LaLiga games last season, and Blaugrana manager Xavi has made it obvious that Puig is not in his plans for the upcoming season.

According to the Spanish publication AS, Barcelona allegedly informed Riqui Puig that the club was thinking about extending his contract by one season or loaning him out for a season.

As Puig’s future at the Nou Camp appears gloomy, he might consider joining a squad where he can count on playing time to advance.

Despite rumors that some Serie A teams are interested in signing the young Spaniard, Barcelona has not yet received any official offers.

LA Galaxy is reported to have made a move for Puig, but the MLS may now offer him a way out.

The statement also states that a verbal agreement on Puig’s loan has been struck between the two clubs and the player.

Riqui Puig is on the verge of signing a loan deal with LA Galaxy to play out the rest of the 2022 season, but an official agreement needs to be made quickly because the MLS registration period ends on August 4.

Due to the Catalan giant’s connection to the MLS team, the transfer of the Barcelona youth product might easily be completed before the deadline.

According to reports, the relationship between Barcelona and LA Galaxy began when the American club made its initial attempt to sign Sergi Roberto earlier this year.

Despite the 30-year-old staying in Barcelona, the two parties have been in frequent contact and have talked about prospective moves for players who don’t play much at the Nou Camp, according to the AS report.

Puig is one of seven players, including Neto, Samuel Umtiti, Martin Braithwaite, and Memphis Depay, who Xavi may try to unload this summer as the manager attempts to rebuild his team, according to several sources.

Before the new season, Xavi has been eager to add reinforcements, but due to the club’s financial situation, he understands the need to sell players before pursuing any new transfer targets.

This summer, the Barcelona manager fired several players to revamp the team in time for the new season.

Following fruitful negotiations between the Premier League club and Barcelona, Philippe Coutinho has agreed to a permanent transfer to Aston Villa for roughly £17 million.

Clement Lenglet made more than 100 matches for Barcelona before moving on loan to Tottenham.

After Dani Alves returned to Nou Camp in December of last year and participated in 17 games, Barcelona also cut ties with him for a second time.
