The Frenchman’s deal was meant to be extended before 31st July, 2023 but that deadline has elapsed and he will be a free agent in 2024.

Mbappe has vehemently refused to back down in his stance and could now leave as a free agent next year.

Recall we reported that PSG recently accepted an offer from Saudi Pro League club for the Frenchman after putting him up for sale.

The news on Kylian Mbappe was confirmed by football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, on Monday night.

Romano tweeted: “option to extend Kylian Mbappé contract until June 2025 has expired, No late twists in the saga: Mbappé as expected has not activated the clause to extend his PSG contract.”

“Deadline was July 31, it’s over — formally, Mbappé contract will expire in June 2024 and then free agent.”

“Paris Saint-Germain keep thinking he has agreed with Real Madrid to join in 2024 on a free transfer.”

“Mbappé remains up for sale as PSG hope for bids ASAP — from Real or any club after Saudi rejected.”

“Kylian will formally receive €40m fidelity bonus activated now as part of final year of his contract,” he concluded.

Recall we also reported that Kylian Mbappe, whose contract with PSG expires at the end of the 2023-2024 season, and said he won’t renew, posted a picture of three cards, all showing the number nine (of hearts, of clubs, and of diamonds).

The images he shared on his Instagram account showed him having a good time on vacation despite being left out of PSG pre-season tour.

Kylian Mbappe, 24, who has one year left on his contract and has refused to sign a contract extension, is absent from their pre-season tour in Japan.

PSG’s reason for taking up such a move was to reiterate that they only want to include players who are committed to the club.

Al Hilal’s record-breaking offer is not the only one PSG have received as they have been contacted by several European teams.

The current most expensive transfer record is held by Neymar who joined PSG from FC Barcelona for a transfer fee worth £200 million in 2017.

Kylian Mbappe, however, revealed that he has no intention of moving to Saudi Arabia despite PSG accepting Al-Hilal’s offer and granting them permission to speak to the Frenchman.

Recall we reported that Kylian Mbappe was put up for sale after he declined signing a new contract with the Ligue 1 giants with one year left on his contract.
