There is no quick end to the contract standoff between PSG and Kylian Mbappe following latest reports.

Mbappe is apparently winning the duel as PSG seem to concede after a tight grip on their position not to let the French star leave on a free transfer.

Recall PSG and Kylian Mbappe were reportedly set to hold face-to-face talks over the contract renewal deadlock as club President Nasser Al-Khelaifi prepared to address PSG players before their preseason tour in Japan.

The meeting did not hold as Mbappe reportedly refuse to hold talks with the club’s Chief Executive.

After the failed scheduled talks, PSG still went ahead to offer Mbappe a mouth-watery 10-year new contract.

As expected, Kylian Mbappe turned down the offer. Following the rejection, PSG tighten their grip on their position not to let the 24-year-old leave on a free transfer. They immediately axed him off the club’s preseason plans and placed him on the transfer market for potential suitors.

While Mbappe is the envy of big clubs and managers in Europe, PSG €200m asking price for the player has been a turn-off.

Liverpool have been linked to Mbappe but Jurgen Klopp has ruled out such move due to the price tag although he is a big fan of the player.

Chelsea have also been linked with Kylian Mbappe with Todd Boehly reportedly expected to launch an offer for the player but a bid from the London club is yet to be confirmed.

Al Hilal have been the only club that have tabled an offer for Kylian Mbappe. The Saudi giants have submitted a record £300m offer to PSG and Kylian Mbappe to sign the player. Futballnews understands Mbappe has rejected the offer and has refused to enter into talks with the club.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi has reportedly pleaded with Mbappe to accept offers since he will not renew his contract with the club.

However, it appears such pleas have fallen on deaf ears. Mbappe has made up his mind to sit out on the bench throughout the upcoming season and then leave to Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Now, according to report reaching us from Fabrizio Romano, PSG have made another attempt to arrest the contract standoff between the club and the 24-year-old.

The club have reportedly offered Kylian Mbappe new deal with a guaranteed sale clause next summer. This means Mbappe will be tied under a new contract but will be sold next summer as included in the clause.

The report confirms Mbappe has turned down the offer as he remained fixed in leaving the club for free next summer.

PSG accepted Al Hilal’s offer for Mbappe but it was pretty clear Mbappe will not accept the move. As things stand, no top European club is likely to meet PSG’s asking price for Kylian Mbappe. Hence, the French star is more likely to run out his contract and then leave for free next summer.
