Real Madrid and France skipper forward Kylian Mbappe has shut down rumours linking him to rape allegations in Sweden.

According to Swedish media outlet, Aftonbladet, Swedish authorities are investigating the hotel that Mbappe stayed with his friends in the country during the ongoing international break.

Recall the French footballing sensation went to Sweden to wile away time from October 9-11, after he was omitted from France’s squad for the October international break due to fitness concerns.

Kylian Mbappe rape allegations

He came under backslash for spending time partying even on the night that his national team – France – played Israel in a UEFA Nations League clash during the break.

While his teammates, such as Wesley Fofana and Guendozi jumped to his defense, French media critiqued the player for not only missing the match but choosing to party in the night.

Away from the backlash and vituperations, he is now facing rape allegations still linked to the Swiss nightclub outing.

According to Aftonbladet, Swedish police have begun an investigation at the Stockholm-based nightclub after a woman seek help with the security agencies for being raped in the facility during the party.

Notably, Kylian Mbappe is not mentioned as the direct potential culprit in the case but is linked to the incident since it occurred while he and his contingents spent time in the facility.

Specifically, the incident allegedly occurred on Thursday, October 10 while Mbappe spent three days – Wednesday, October 9 to Friday, October 11 – in the facility.

The prosecutors handling the case have refused to comment further on the development until further investigations into the incident, Aftonbladet adds.

The report by Aftonbladet was shared in France by French media RMC Sport and it subsequently got to Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe shut down rape allegations, accuse PSG of propaganda

Reacting to the report, Kylian Mbappe retweeted the report from RMC, describing it as ‘fake news.’ He pointed accusing fingers at his former club PSG for apparently peddling the rumour as it comes when the French Football administrators Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) is about to hear his case against the former club.

“FAKE NEWS!!!!❌❌❌
“It’s becoming so predictable, just before the hearing as if by chance,” he wrote.

LFP reportedly ordered PSG to pay Kylian Mbappe £46m they owed the player as three months salary and bonuses during his final months at the club.

PSG appealed the decision and a court hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Kylian Mbappe seems to infer a foul play by the former club due to the timing of his rape allegations

PSG fires back at Kylian Mbappe for linking the club to the rape rumours

An undisclosed source linked to the PSG hierarchy has berated Kylian Mbappe’s insinuations on social media.

Speaking with French outlet, L’Equippe, the source described Mbappe’s insinuations as a shame, blasting the player for blaming the former club for his woes.

“Honestly, it’s a shame. PSG is responsible for everything with him.

‘’He didn’t score any goals (apart from penalties) for Madrid? It’s PSG.

“He missed the French national team matches even though he says he did, but he’s not injured? It’s PSG.

‘‘PSG are now making up stories in Sweden. We will ignore it and keep our class,” the source said.

Mbappe left PSG for Real Madrid following a dragging contract renewal standoff that saw their relationship break down.

Since his exit, the two parties have yet to mend the broken fences with the £46m still feeding the grudges of the past months.

Mbappe reportedly rejected in-house mediation to settle the payment dispute and opted to take it to the French football umpire with the hearing expected on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Meanwhile, while it has been confirmed that Swedish authorities are investigating the rape allegations, Mbappe, who has not been directly linked with the scandal, believes he is being targeted by the investigators with his former club apparently behind the move.

France national team head coach Didier Deschamps reacts to the allegations

Reacting to the rape allegations against Kylian Mbappe, France coach Didier Deschamps said that the report “is not a good thing for the national team,”

“Everyone is free to write what they want but there is a negative atmosphere around the French team following the report,” Deschamps told reporters following the 2-1 win in Belgium in the UEFA Nations League.
