Kylian Mbappe is not likely to leave Paris Saint Germain for Real Madrid this summer. He would have to wait until the January transfer window to actualize his dream of playing for Real Madrid.

Recall that the Spanish football giants made their first offer for the services of Kylian Mbappe earlier in August. The offer was worth £137 million.

Unfortunately for Mbappe whose contract with PSG will expire on June 30, 2022, the French club turned down the offer because they felt it was not good enough for the French striker.

A day after, Real Madrid proved how determined they are to sign Kylian Mbappe by making a second bid for his services. This time around, the Spanish football giants made an improved offer worth £145.6 million.

Since Thursday, August 26, 2021, there has not been any official reaction from PSG over the new offer. However, Sky Sports reported that Kylian Mbappe’s proposed move to Real Madrid is not likely to be completed this summer.

Though Mbappe has rejected three opportunities to extend his contract with PSG, the club have always insisted that they intend to keep the French international a bit longer.

The fact that Real Madrid and Mbappe are ready to work together and they have shown it officially and informally, PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has refused to stop insisting that Mbappe would remain the player of the French club.

Speaking on Thursday, the PSG president told beIN SPORTS that: “We’ve always been very clear… the situation, the position of the club. We’re not going to repeat it every time. You know our position, it has not changed.”

Also, PSG’s sporting director Leonardo re-echoed the stand of the club’s president stressing that the club don’t have any plan to sell the Frenchman anytime soon. He also revealed that Mbappe has promised the club that he would not leave the club for free.

“Kylian wants to leave, it seems clear to me”, Leonardo told RMC Sport. “If Real Madrid makes an offer, it seems clear to me… I am taking a position that I think is clear to everyone.

“If he wants to leave, we are not going to hold him back, but it will be on our terms.

“Kylian always promised that he would never leave the club for free. That’s what he’s always told us.

“We have no plans to talk to Real Madrid again. The deadline is August 31 at midnight. That’s how the transfer window is, but we are clear about this: we want to keep him and extend his deal.

“But we’re not going to let him go for less than what we paid for him when we still owe Monaco money.”

The option left for Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid

PSG are not ready to allow Kylian Mbappe to leave so easily. Hence, the only option left for the Frenchman is to break his verbal promise to the club and leave for free next summer.

At the time of publishing this report, there were just three days left before this summer transfer window would be over. This means that Real Madrid and Mbappe have less than three days to create magic that would lead to his exit from the French club.

Reports claimed that if any magic fails to happen before midnight on August 31, the next option is that Real Madrid would sign a pre-contract deal with Mbappe in the January transfer window.

After that, the 22-year-old French striker who won the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France would leave PSG for free next summer for Real Madrid.

Mbappe has been at PSG since 2017 on loan from Monaco. In 2018, PSG paid €180 million to Monaco to make his stay at PSG permanent.

Based on the agreement PSG have with Monaco, PSG paid Monaco €145 million as part payment of Mbappe’s transfer fee. PSG are expected to pay the rest which is about €35 million if they sell Mbappe to any club.
