Former PSG star Kylian Mbappe is reportedly not happy with Real Madrid’s style of play under head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

The French forward is struggling to find his footing in the Spanish topflight after a summer switch from Ligue 1 Champions PSG.

After a dragging run without finding the back of the net, he finally scored. With 10 matches into the season, he has managed 6 goals with one assist for the club and is down the 2024-25 La Liga top scorers’ chart, led by Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski, 33, with 14 goals.

While the footballer has pulled off a series of brilliant performances for Los Blancos, he is obviously performing below expectations.

For Mbappe, it appears his challenge is not just returning to form and his best with the Galactico but functioning in Carlo Ancelotti’s football system.

According to close sources, he is reportedly not happy with Real Madrid’s style of play under Carlo Ancelotti.

At PSG, different managers built their tactics around him just as Argentina and Inter Miami have evolved football structures and systems around Lionel Messi.

At Real Madrid, that is not the case with Carlo Ancelotti operating a fluid pattern that allows other players to take big roles in the game.

Mbappe reportedly believes this has worked to his disadvantage, leading to his struggle to find his pace and form.

His frustrations point to the difficult dressing room dynamics and Carlo Ancelotti’s inability to fully integrate him into the team.

This has not only resulted in poor output from the player but has taken a toll on the team’s performance as well.

Despite simmering with some of the finest attacking talents in Europe, it appears there has been a drop-off in the Los Blancos setup, with the current setup falling below the benchmarks.

For the first time in decades, they lost back-to-back Champions League fixtures. First, against Lille in France, and the second, a shock 3-1 mauling by Serie A giants AC Milan.

Worst of all, the shock home defeat to AC Milan was preceded by another shock defeat to La Liga archrivals Barcelona in the El Clasico.

Carlo Ancelotti particularly picked out Kylian Mbappe to blame for the recent drop-off. According to the Italian and European football veteran, Kylian Mbappe’s work rate—his inability to cover needed distances and make crucial runs when the team is out of possession—has contributed to the setback.

From the foregoing, it is apparent Kylian Mbappe may be in for a disappointing first season with Real Madrid after his belated transfer to the club.

Away from the team that strolled to a La Liga and Champions League triumph last season, the club are struggling for results domestically and in Europe.

They are nine points away from table-toppers, although they have a game in hand. In Europe,  they sit 14th on the table with 6 points from 2 wins and 2 defeats.

Meanwhile, sources close to Real Madrid have revealed the club is hoping Mbappe will step up his game and lead the charge for a return to form.
