Manchester City Star Kyle Walker made his first appearance for Manchester City against Crystal Palace days after his flashing shame scandal.
The Premier League champions nearly surrendered two points at Selhurst Park against the resilient and hard-fighting Eagles after almost firing blank.
Crystal Palace left no stone unturned in holding off the high-pressing and victory-hungry Pep Guardiola-led team. They retreated into the defense, having all their players on the ball and making it pretty difficult for City to find the back of the net.
The game dragged on and nearly ended in a barren draw before Olise brought down Gundogan in the box after a naked tackle in the box.
The referee awarded a penalty and Erling Haaland converted it to end the goal deadlock as Manchester City bagged all three points to close the gap on top of the Premier League to two points.
Kyle Walker was benched in the game among other big names in the squad as Guardiola rested some top players in the first half ahead of the Champions League quarterfinal return leg against RB Leipzig at Etihad.
However, Pep Guardiola who was largely indifferent to the scandal brought on the England star late in the game as a late substitute.
Kyle Walker sparked reactions, including a row between his wife Annie Kilner, and Jamie Vardy’s wife, Becky when a CCTV footage emerged of him flirting with two women in a bar after being drunk.
Walker thrown caution to the wind, had his suite dropped to the bottom while he flirted with two women in a Cheshire bar to the glee of other drinkers before finding his way home via a minibus.
The footage sent the social media buzzing. His wife, Annie, 30, had described Kyle Walker as a d**k after the incident. Annie was also drawn into a boiling feud with the wife of Leicester City star Jamie Vardy, Becky, who had dropped a bombshell post, aiming a dig at Annie and Walker after the incident.
Becky wrote, “a gift that keeps giving, “in a subtle dig at Kyle Walker before referring to Annie as a “doormat,” – an unsavory remark that sparked a public spat on social media between the two wags.
Reacting to Kyle Walker’s walking shame, Pep Guardiola dismissed the scandal as a “private issue” adding the club will “solve it internally,” not in the media.
Guardiola played down the incident in the Crystal Palace pre-match press conference and was obviously happy to sub on the England right-back late in the game against Crystal Palace.
It was the 32-year-old’s first appearance for the club after the scandal which is now in the hands of the Police.
Police officers had reportedly approached the bar staff in Cheshire and have gotten the video clip of the incident.
Investigations are reportedly set to begin with Police ready to probe Walker and could interview him for indecency which could attract a maximum of a two-year jail sentence if convicted.
